Each station can be upgraded with a few interesting structures. Remember that the initial size of a station is 6x6. This limitation applies not only to station segments, but to all upgrades as well. Have that in mind when constructing additional stations, so that you don't block yourself the place to add upgrades.

You can add following upgrades to each station:

1. Waiting room. One of the most useful upgrades, even in industrial stations. It greatly increases the reach of the station for the price paid in green tokens.
2. Freight station. Speeds up loading and increases the warehouse space of the station. Worth buying for crowded stations.
3. Restaurant. An expensive upgrade that should be used in largest passenger stations with high traffic. Not only does it increase storage, but profits from the station as well.
4. Storage building. Greatly increases the space in the station, but is very expensive. You should place it in transshipment stations or stations that maintain processing buildings (like sawmill) with high traffic.
5. Platform. An empty section of the station. It is cheaper to build a regular station segment.
6. Signal box. Increases the maximum size of the station by 2 fields. This means that a station with a single signal box can have 8x8 size instead of 6x6. You should use it not only to manage more trains, but to service larger trains as well.

Important! In the Early Access version not all upgrades are working like they should. For example, the waiting room works not only on residential buildings, but on factories as well. The restaurant doesn't increase profits.
