Manor Lords: Buildings - how to upgrade? Manor Lords Guide

This page of the introductory guide to Manor Lords will tell you all about uprading buildings. Especially about developing burgage plots / houses.

Last update: Thursday, October 6, 2022

On this page of the Manor Lords introductory guide, we discuss upgrading buildings, with particular emphasis on the burgage plot. These are bourgeois plots serving as houses.

The Manor Lords guide is based on the Steam Next Fest 2022 demo. It is current as of October 5, 2022.

Burgage plot (houses)

Burgage plot is a kind of house with a "garden". You can determine the size of the area of such a building and its yard yourself. Your citizens will live in them. It can be upgraded in 2 ways.

Extensions

If you allocate a sufficiently large area to create a burgage plot (you will know it by the cross when planning a building), you will be able to use the extension option - Manor Lords: Buildings - how to upgrade? - FAQ - Manor Lords Guide

If you allocate a sufficiently large area to create a burgage plot (you will know it by the cross when planning a building), you will be able to use the extension option.

This will allow you to create an extension. For the right amount of resources, you will be able to upgrade a building to produce food. Unfortunately, this will take place at the expense of the resident's regular work - they will have less time for it.

Upgrade

The burgage plot can also be upgraded to level 2 - Manor Lords: Buildings - how to upgrade? - FAQ - Manor Lords Guide

The burgage plot can also be upgraded to level 2. However, there are a number of rules that must be followed first. You can see them at the bottom of the building's information box. Red and green diamonds symbolize the residents' needs that must be met before the house can be upgraded. It is worth emphasizing that the red fields are connected with the bare minimum and failing to meet these needs will result in dissatisfaction and even death of your citizens. The white dots indicate that the condition is met.

It should be remembered that the mere fact of having resources does not mean that they will go to the residents. The market area and various stalls can be helpful in this.

Needs that you have to fulfill to upgrade the Burgage plot:

  1. Food - symbolizes the currently available types of food. For better distribution of this raw material, invest in Food stall and an employee who will supply it.
  2. Clothing - this category includes all materials that can be turned into clothes.
  3. Entertainment - you have to build a tavern and supply it with Ale.
  4. Faith - build a church.
  5. Water - you need a well to supply your inhabitants with water.
  6. Fuel - you have to provide your townspeople with fuel.

Unfortunately, there is no point in expanding the Burgage plot in the demo version due to the limited number of available mechanics. The only reason may be to complete one of the starting tasks - Comforts and Conveniences.

Other buildings

Unfortunately, in the Manor Lords demo, most buildings cannot be upgraded, or have this feature blocked - Manor Lords: Buildings - how to upgrade? - FAQ - Manor Lords Guide

Unfortunately, in the Manor Lords demo, most buildings cannot be upgraded, or have this feature blocked. Apart from the Burgage plot, you can also upgrade the Granary. This will allow you to increase its storage room. Have 3 pieces of timber and press the appropriate button on the building card.
