Watch out, as there are some spoilers regarding heroes known from the Yakuza series that appear in Ishin. However, we do not go into details about their new identities or their role in the events presented in the game. This page of our guide focuses only on the topic of their availability as playable protagonists.
Ryoma
When you start a new game, you will take control of Ryoma, a character whose image and voice are identical to Kazuma Kiryu from other parts of the Yakuza series.
Ryoma is the only playable character in Like a Dragon: Ishin . The idea for several playable heroes, which was present in, for example, Yakuza 0 , Yakuza 4 and Yakuza 5 , has not been introduced here. As a result, you can safely spend all your upgrade points on this one hero.
Allies and famous characters
Throughout the game, you will gain various allies and sometimes they will take part in combat alongside you. However, the game won't let you switch characters or even give allies commands. You can't exercise any control over how they fare in fights or who they attack.
In Like a Dragon: Ishin you will also meet Haruka, but she is not a playable character . You can gradually become friends and Haruka can help Ryoma develop the farm. There is an option in the game to send Haruka to sell goods from incoming orders, although there are no major interactions associated with this, nor can you personally take control of Haruka.
