Meaning of artifacts and unlocking Forerunners Archives

Forerunners Artifacts is one of the collectibles you can find playing the main campaign. They are not automatically marked on the map as FOB bases are taken over. You have to find them on your own. Fortunately, on the Halo Zeta, there are only 7 Forerunners Artifacts to find.

Artifacts look like gates and you can reach them on foot or using vehicles. You can reach them in any order. You don't have to start with the first one and end it with the 7th one.

After finding each artifact, you have to scan it - approach it, and hold the interact button. Any such action unlocks the Forerunners archive. These are special audio logs that you can optionally listen to in one of the tabs in the Database menu.

Artifact 1

The first artifact is southeast of the FOB Charlie base.

Artifact 2

The second artifact is located southeast of Outpost Tremonius.

Artifact 3

The third artifact is on a hill, southwest of the Ransom Keep.

Artifact 4

The fourth artifact is located on top of a mountain east of the FOB Golf base.

Artifact 5

The fifth artifact is located northeast of the FOB Juliet base.

Artifact 6

The sixth artifact is by the river northwest of the FOB Hotel base.

Artifact 7

The last seventh artifact is north of the FOB November base.
