At the beginning of Elex 2 the protagonist is infected with a mysterious disease. Infection effects will appear on your screens from time to time. Jax will also comment on it. On this page of the guide you'll learn whether the infection affects the gameplay with any disadvantages or debuffs.

Does the infection have negative effects?

Initially the infection has only visual effects which don't affect gameplay. Your character isn't weakened in any way and his stats remain intact. The only symptom that can affect the game is the infection effect you'll see from time to time. These effects never happen in combat or during conversations though, so they shouldn't interfere with the game.

This changes drastically during Chapter 2. From now on Jax can black out - the screen turns dark and you're transported to a different area. You can make these situations less frequent via mental training with the CRONY U4 drone. Simply talk to it and select the appropriate dialogue option.
