Side Quests in Troll Claw Woods BG: Siege of Dragonspear Guide

There is only one side-quest to unlock and complete in Troll Claw Woods, described below. If you choose the more obvious solution, you can finish it instantly. Otherwise, you will have to return to the mercenaries in the further part of the game.

The Irregulars

The mercenaries are east to the Flaming Fist encampment

This task can be unlocked after meeting with Lieutenant Otilda in the Flaming Fist encampment (M9,1). She doesn't like that the expedition was joined by half-orc mercenaries, and she asks the party to begin a fight with them, so they can be sent off. The mentioned mercenaries are on a glade not far east from the encampment (M9,2). After initiating a conversation with Rend or Kava, you can choose dialogue options which lead to a fight, as per Otilda's suggestion. After the fight, orcs will leave this place. Return to Otilda, and you will receive a lot of experience point and 105 gold.

You don't have to fight the half-orcs, as you can ignore their attacks and leave them alone. An interesting solution is to try to get to know them without starting a fight. In this case, you have to speak to Kava and choose dialogue options which gain his trust. Kava suggests that he would be more talkative, after you bring some alcohol from the crusaders camp. The mentioned camp is in Boareskyr Bridge (M11,3). Above screenshot shows the hiding place of the alcohol (Tepid Mug of Ale). Return with the alcohol to Kava.
