This page of the Amnesia Rebirth guide has a walkthrough for the chapter entitled The Caves. In the walkthrough, you will find out, e.g. where to find all the secret notes in the caves, how to obtain and use matches, and how to get through the dark caves.

List of secrets

In The Caves stage, you can find 24 secrets:

1. The Caves x15
2. Hank's Notes x3
3. Matchbooks x6

The locations where you can obtain collectibles have been included in the walkthrough below. You can also find other interactive items, but they don't necessarily have to be used.

Exploring the first cave

There are a lot of collectibles to be found in the first cave - try to collect them all before you continue your journey.

There is a large chest with the first collectible on it next to the extinguished fire - The Caves: Salim & Tasi Photograph.

In the same area, there is a table shown in the picture - you will find three items on it:

1. Map - it is not classified as a collectible, but you can examine it.
2. The Caves: Asset Tally - you must first pick up the little box that covers the note.
3. The Caves: Crew Roster

The suitcase presented in the picture above is next to the table. Opening it will reveal more secrets:

1. Matchbooks - You don't have to use them now. They are useful later when you will walk in complete darkness.
2. Hank's Notes: Tasi Trianon

Go a bit further and examine the area on the right with the tombstone - its cross is visible in the distance. You will come across a corpse and 2 secrets:

1. The Caves: Eva's Note
2. The Caves: German Poem

Go back to the main cave and go a bit further to the right. In the place shown in the picture, you will find a secret lying on a green chest - The Caves: Salim's Note.

Return to the main area and check out the left corridor shown in screenshot 1 - you need to walk on a narrow plank.

In the new place, pick up the pillow marked in screenshot 2 to reveal the collectible - Hank's Notes: Eva Ritter.

To the left of the place where you obtained the previous secret, you will have the area with the armchair shown in the picture. You can find 3 secrets here:

1. The Caves: Encyclopedia Entry - the collectible is lying next to the rags on the ground
2. The Caves: Yasmin's ID - the secret is on a large chest
3. The Caves: Webber's Goodbye - the secret is on the armchair

Squeeze through the rocks to the adjacent, dimly lit area. Check out the two tables marked in the picture. You will find:

1. Matchbooks
2. The Caves: Engineering Document
3. The Caves: Alex and Richard Photo

The exit from the first cave is in its upper-right corner (looking from the starting point). You will come across a mattress with matches (see the picture). Make sure you got all the collectibles from the first location!

Going through the rest of the caves

You don't have to use matches while moving through the caves. Stop after you reach the burning brazier shown in the picture. There is a dark stash to its right of it with a secret - The Caves: Page from Salim's Diary.

Go forward. You can keep running in the dark - this is a good opportunity to earn the hidden Nope, Merci trophy (quick save and close the game when you experience a strong gust of wind). Alternatively, you can light the braziers and torches along the way.

You will come across the vines shown on the right side. A secret is stuck between them - The Caves: Page from Salim's Diary (the same name of the collectible as the previous one, but different content of the note).

You have to jump over the chest located a bit further. Check out the area on the right with the altar - it is shown in picture 1. You will find:

1. The Caves: Scrap of Paper
2. Matchbooks x2 - you have to pick up and drop the vase from picture 2 (to break it) and look inside the chest.

Continue your journey through the dark corridors - at the fork, take the left corridor. You will reach the place shown in the picture, where you can light 2 torches. There are 2 collectibles here:

1. Matchbooks - they are hidden in the left basket
2. Hank's Notes: Lukas Ritter - the secret is stuck between the rocks on the right

Go back to the fork and, this time, take the right path. On your way, you can light a new brazier. The collectible marked in the picture is to the right of it - The Caves: Page from Salim's Diary.

After getting the secret, walk on the narrow plank. When you try to do this, the plank will break. You will land on the lower level of the caves.

Regain control by moving the left and right analog sticks at the same time. Check out the gap between the rocks.

In the next area, you have to select the amulet from the inventory. Take it to a kind of portal. It is visible only when the amulet is equipped.

In the new location, follow the linear path - you will have to crouch. You will reach the door - opening it will load another location.

Although you have theoretically advanced to the next chapter, you can find a secret related to the previous level near the starting point. It is shown in the picture - The Caves: Page from Salim's Diary.
