Pilgrimage  (11/109)

The following walkthrough guides you through quests related to Knights of the Nine, a sort of guild that you will rebuild and bring back to its greatness. In order to start these quests, travel to Anvil and talk to any NPC in there. You should notice a new conversation topic, concerning the attack on the local chapel

Go to Anvil and listen to the local NPC gossip. You’ll get an on-screen message saying “New top: Eight and One”. Talk to anyone and ask about the attack on Anvil chapel.

Near the eastern gate of the city you’ll see The Prophet. Talk to him using all dialogue options and admit that you’d like to gather all of the Crusader’s relics. He’ll eventually give you a Washrines Map, indicating 9 shrines you have to pay a visit to in order to set things into motion. Before leaving Anvil go to the Chapel of Dibella. Inside grab a key from one of the bodies and get to the Chapel Hall. In there, you’ll find some books on the history of the Crusader.

The map that the Prophet gave you (shown above) lacks accuracy. As the Shrines’ locations don’t appear as map markers, use the screenshots below to know the exact locations of all of them.

HINT: Completing the “Pilgrimage” quest sets your infamy to 0, and you can complete it as many times as you need to.

Arkay – near Brina Cross Inn

Mara – near Cursed Mine

Dibella – near Fort Camala

Akatosh – near Bruma Caverns

Julianos – near Fort Sejanus

Kynareth – near Fort Entius

Talos – near Hircine’s Shrine

Zenithar – near Flooded Mine

Stendarr – near Sheogorath’s Shrine

Yeah the crusader armor and weaponry is great but I hate the downside of being unable to use it if you perform a evil act. Then you have to visit the shrines all over again...joy.

just as a FAQ: infamy is have makes you a well know criminal in the world. if you have a anything but "0" infamy you cannot wear the Holy Relic armor. so watch what you do ex, Thieves guilds missions, Dark Brotherhood missions. Killing bandits doesnt count and niether does killing Necromancers. Just dont assault, murder, break into houses and rooms, or steal. Or else you will have to do the pilgremage all over again to continue the questline. Also, the wayshrines arent marked on the map so you need to fast travel close to them and walk the rest of the way..

happy questing

It's my understanding that the Wayshrines on the map are only suggestions. You can go to any of the Wayshrines in the game, just as long as you end up going to at least one for each of the Nine. So just find another of Arkay's Wayshrines to complete the quest.

spoiler start
Are you sure it's one of of Arkay's Wayshrines? I ask, because none of the three (hint, hint) in the game have a gate on top of them when viewed in the Construction Set that comes with the PC version. There are some 'inactive' Wayshrines in the game (the one north-west of Anvil ends up under the Anvil Gate). Maybe that's what you've found.

* I meant to say all of that and the altar that was broken was the altar of Arkay, sorry. The altar of Arkay has been crashed
by an oblivion gate, and I still can't get to it even after I closed the oblivion gate.

I recently got the expansion for xbox360 and used one of my more advanced characters.
Since I was progressing in the main quest, oblivion gates open up everywhere, like they're supposed to.
The problem is... I started the pilgrimage after all that, and when I went to pray at the altar of Mara,
I found it crashed under an oblivion gate.. I closed the gate, but the altar is still under the remains,
and I can't access it. What now?

when they say you can repeat this quest as much as you want, does that just mean go revisit all the shrines and pray, and you'll be at 0 infamy again?

guys i need help i have prayed at all of the altars or whatever u call them but when i get to the last on nothing happens, the one that won't show anything is the arkay altar. oh and i have the ps3 edition and i was able to start the quest on another character i used to have. also the arkay altar wouldnt give me the quest thing that says u prayed ther even when that was my third out of the nine that i went to to pray. i have dropped all of my stolen items and have even made sure there is no bounty on my head. could this be becasue i completed the dark brotherhood quests.
