The Titan Weapon | The Sword Coast - Quests Risen 2 Guide

Quest giver: Carlos [#1] - The Titan Weapon - The Sword Coast - Quests - Risen 2: Dark Waters - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Quest giver: Carlos [#1]

Note! This is one of the biggest and most complicated quests in the entire game. It includes several dozen smaller missions which course depends on the choices you make during the game. It affects not only the way in which particular quests are completed, but also the factions you want to side with (the choice is final and irreversible!). Because of the above, the chapter devoted to this quest is divided into smaller parts containing references to individual chapters in the guide.

A humble beginning of a grand adventure. - The Titan Weapon - The Sword Coast - Quests - Risen 2: Dark Waters - Game Guide and Walkthrough
A humble beginning of a grand adventure.

You can receive this quest from Carlos at the very beginning of the game, as soon as you walk Patty to your room and talk to your superior. He'll explain to you how difficult is the situation in which humanity has found itself - the fearsome Titans have woken up to wipe all their enemies from the face of the earth. Luckily, an artifact exists that has the power to vanquish the monsters: the legendary Titan Weapon. Rumor has it that it's in the possession of one the pirates tormenting the southern seas. It's up to you to recover the mysterious weapon and defeat the monsters with it.

For a good start, leave Caldera to embark on a dangerous journey to Tacarigua. As it happens, Patty, the girl you saved, is the daughter of Captain Steelbeard - one of the most famous cutthroats of all seas and oceans. Approach the girl [#2] and talk to her about her father. When she offers that you work together in the search for the pirate, agree and head to the ship in the docks. Once you're on board, talk to Commandant Sebastiano [#3] to embark on your very first adventure.

Tacarigua

After landing on the island (quest: To Tacarigua), talk to Patty [#1] - The Titan Weapon - The Sword Coast - Quests - Risen 2: Dark Waters - Game Guide and Walkthrough

After landing on the island (quest: To Tacarigua), talk to Patty [#1]. The girl will join you and will be accompanying you until the moment you meet her father (quest: Find Steelbeard). Finding him isn't too easy, and the conversation itself won't do you much good. Before he agrees to help you obtain the Titan Weapon, you will have to prove your usefulness. Therefore, try to complete as many sidequests as you can and max out your character as much as possible before going to him - until the conversation with the mysterious pirate, you will have a companion in Patty who is indispensable during battles. Later, you'll have to deal on your own.

If you feel up to it, you can travel from Puerto Sacarico [#2] to the pirates' den [#3] where Captain Steelbeard [#4] is usually staying. When you reach the main gate [#5], convince the guard sitting there to let you inside (Silver Tongue or Intimidate at 15), or circle around it [#6]. Eventually, you will meet the pirate, and Patty will leave your party (the Find Steelbeard quest ends at that moment). Now, your main assignment would be to convince the sly fox of your abilities - it's the main goal of the Become a Pirate quest. To be able to get on the captain's good side, you'll need to complete at least five of the following quests:

  • Crab Slapping with Blake - to get a good word from the pirate [#7] you have to kill more giant crabs than him. The news of your success will reach Steelbeard faster than you, so there's not need in telling him about it. You can find more information on the bloody battle with the overgrown crabs in the quest's own description.
  • Settling the Score with Hank - in Booze's tavern, by the bar, you can find Hank [#8]. He won't have anything particularly interesting to say unless you start talking to the prostitute Holly, also in the tavern. The man will accost you after the conversation and demand a payment of 100 Gold. If you yield, the conflict will be nipped in the bud. If you refuse to give him a penny, you'll trigger the quest, which goal is to teach the thug a lesson. Steelbeard [#4] won't care about the result of the confrontation - the sole fact that there's been a confrontation is enough for him. The captain will find out about it on his own, so you don't have to tell him anything.
  • O'Brian's Treasure - O'Brian, a drunk in Booze's tavern, will tell you about valuables buried in the north beach. In order to obtain a map leading to the treasure, you'll have to beat him in a drinking contest first. You can offer him a monkey, an earring belonging to Largo, or 500 Gold. When you win, use the marker on the map and go to the beach behind the waterfall [#10]. You need a Shovel to dig the treasure out - if you haven't obtained it from Pete [#11] when looking for his treasure, you can always buy it from Flannigan [#12]. With another success on your account, go to Steelbeard [#4] to tell him about your finding.

  • Pete's Treasure Map - you can learn about the buried chest from Holly [#9], a prostitute from the tavern, if you agree to pay her 100 Gold. Pete had hidden his treasure in the central part of the island, in a gorge near a tomb [#11]. Once you're there, search the body of the poor fellow and you'll find a map that will allow you to locate the chest. The valuables are buried a few meters further to the north, but you'll need a Shovel to dig them out - fortunately, you don't have to look for it because it's wedged in the ground right next to you. No one will tell the captain [#4] about your accomplishment, so you'll have to do it yourself.
  • Old Grave Plundered - Tacarigua is rich in ancient buildings, and those, open to tourists, have plenty of valuable items to take. Steelbeard [#4] will appreciate your courage if you manage to take out at least one Idol from any tomb, and of course inform him about it. The quest isn't easy due to very dangerous opponents. You can find more information on how to get the treasures in the quest's own description.
  • Freeing Largo - the pirate is held in the tower in Puerto Sacarico [#13]. Freeing him requires some effort - first, you need to get a Lock pick from Stone [#14] (you can either buy it or get it for free, depending on whether you choose the more or the less complicated way), and bring him to the convict. He will take care of the rest. Your actions won't be received well by Carter and you'll be immediately attacked. Defeating him won't change anything in your relations, though. You can find more information on how to give Largo the longed-for freedom in the quest's own description. There is an alternative way of obtaining the lock pick and you can read about in the A Difficult Chest quest description. Captain Steelbeard [#4] won't be informed of your success, so you'll have to tell him personally.

Booze is the most important person on the island. He or his tavern are connected with most quests.
  • The Traitor and the Beast - in Booze's tavern [#9] you can find Meeks, a nasty pirate who is secretly collaborating with a Sunken One [#15]. If you agree to the innkeeper's request to follow the traitor, you'll witness one of their meetings. To get on the captain's [#4] good side, you have to kill them both. You can find more information on this subject in the quest's own description.
  • Taken care of the rum delivery - Captain Steelbeard [#4] has a problem because Booze [#9] won't deliver rum to him. To make a deal with the innkeeper, you need to reestablish water deliveries to the distillery (see: The Water Carriers) and find sugar stolen by termites (see: The Sugar Shipment). After completing both assignments, return to Booze and ask him to give rum to the cursed captain. When both gentlemen strike a bargain, you can tell Steelbeard that you've completed the mission.

When the quest is completed, all that's left to do is to take an oath in front of the crew members. In order to do that, tell Steelbeard [#4] you're ready to join their ranks. At this moment you can leave the island aboard the ship - simply talk to the captain.

The Sword Coast

When you land on the Sword Coast, you're in for a hike through the jungle to get to a tower [#1] that rises above the area - The Titan Weapon - The Sword Coast - Quests - Risen 2: Dark Waters - Game Guide and Walkthrough

When you land on the Sword Coast, you're in for a hike through the jungle to get to a tower [#1] that rises above the area. Once you've killed the guards that were stationed there (quests: Talk to the Pirates at the Tower and Defeat the Lookouts at the Tower), have a chat with Captain Steelbeard and Patty. When you're ready to continue the journey (it's recommended to regenerate health in a bed), you and your companions can proceed forward. No matter which road you take (a few mini quests are involved), eventually you'll arrive at a port city - Puerto Isabella [#2]. Here you will learn about the fate of Captain Crow [#3], who has the sought-after Titan Harpoon. To make it to that cunning swashbuckler, though, you'll have to side with the Natives who live in the Shaganumbi village [#4] or with the Inquisition residing in the city [#2]. Once you've made your choice, you can't change it in any way, and it will affect subsequent quests until the end of the game - so take a moment to think about it!

Help from the Natives is pure magic. - The Titan Weapon - The Sword Coast - Quests - Risen 2: Dark Waters - Game Guide and Walkthrough
Help from the Natives is pure magic.

Chani, Daughter of the Chieftain - the Natives' way. In order to gain the trust of the savages, you'll have to complete a lot of subquests they give you. Most of them rely on proving the courage and loyalty of the Nameless Hero - as a white man, he can't count on being respected too much amongst the native inhabitants of the jungle. Therefore, gaining that trust is quite problematic and largely depends on another quest - Free Tahana. During that quest you'll learn that Ranapiri [#4], one of the warriors from the village and a hunter at the same time, is concerned about the fate of his ward, Tahana [#5], who has been captured by the Inquisition. If you agree to help the Native, you'll need to go to the tower in which the prisoner is held. The key to the cell lies opposite the cell door, on the right of the small staircase, on the ground. When you use it to free the prisoner, you'll be forced to fight a guard. Afterwards, simply walk Tahana to the Natives' village (on the way you'll find the Shaganumbi idol required in The Ancestors' Blessing quest). All this will allow you to gain Chani's trust, thanks to whom you'll be able to prepare to face Crow.

To have any chance at defeating the cunning pirate, you need to carefully think it over and prepare all necessary resources in advance. The following quests serve just that purpose:

  • The Ancestors' Blessing - includes three smaller quests. First, you need to have the idol obtained together with Tahana during your daring escape (quest: The Hidden Idol). Then, you should defeat the temple guard, Samir (Are You Worthy?) and meet Chani in the centre of the building [#6] (Access to the Temple). Lastly, talk to the ancestors' spirit which will grant you the permission to learn voodoo magic.
  • The Chieftain's Hair - a quest that requires knowing the magic arcana and having a little bit of discretion. First of all, you need a lock of hair from a pirate in the village, Jim [#4] (quest: Ouch!), and then making a voodoo doll for him (A Doll for Jim). Equipped with it, possess the pirate and use his body to enter the temple in which Crow and Chieftain Bakir are [#3]. However, to get inside and take some hair out of the Native's head, you'll first need to buy off Floyd who is standing guard. To this end, pickpocket every person in the area, buy a bottle of rum for the stolen money, and get Skinner drunk (Distract Skinner). Next, steal every artifact from every pirate and use them to bribe Floyd (Redistributing the Loot). When it's done, enter the temple and pluck one hair from Bakir's head. All that is left to do is to leave the temple and return to your own body.
  • A Doll for Bakir - being in the possession of the chieftain's hair, use it to make a voodoo doll at the altar in the center of the village [#4]. When it's done, you'll be ready to confront Crow.
  • Assault on the Temple - a simple quest with one goal: take Chani and go to the temple in which Crow, Bakir and their followers are hiding [#3]. Get ready for a hard battle!
  • The Fight Against Crow - the final encounter with the sly pirate. Focus on Crow himself - his pirates don't pose any real threat, and additionally defeating the leader means the end of the whole fight. The triumphant moment ends The Titan Weapon quest as well, as you finally receive the desired artifact.

Four against all.

Support from the Inquisition - as the name implies, a quest connected to the Inquisition. To complete it, you need to tell Commandant Sebastiano [#7] that you've decided to take his help. He will tell you to talk to Alvarez about the army you're about to receive. After a short conversation, the officer standing by the garrison will introduce you to four recruits you should take under your wing to help you deal with Crow (quest: 4 Muskets Against Crow). The first two aren't any problem - you can find Venturo in the city where he drinks beer with the local innkeeper, while Martinez - a short walk beyond the city gates [#8] where he hunts jaguars (you can help him with that, but it's not mandatory - he'll join you anyway). The last two men, though, require some small favors to be done.

  • Three Cut-throats - a quest you receive from Sancho, who is standing by the Inquisition's Tower [#9]. The fearful soldier is afraid to enter the temple in which four dangerous cutthroats are sitting. If you help him get rid of them, he will join you in your mission against Crow. Keep in mind that the lad is quite a coward - you'll have to fight the pirates alone.
  • The Shotgun - a mission from Bartolo, whom you can find at the barracks [#7]. Soldiers being soldiers, the guys got drunk last night and Bartolo had lost his shotgun. You need to talk to his companions and get the missing item back. Have a chat with Martinez, the gunsmith Webster and Eusebio guarding the gate (in any order), then turn to the real culprit, the butcher Tito [#10]. No matter whether you convince him to give the shotgun back (Silver Tongue at 45) or chose to fight him, the weapon will get back to you, allowing Webster to repair it. Afterwards, simply return it to Bartolo.

Rewards:

  • 1000 Glory points for completing the quest.
