Benefits:

  • Experience points: 2000
  • Attributes: Thieving +1

Free the furnace

It’s the biggest quest from the Hammer Clan (it’s very important for the whole game). You can hear the news about the mine and the furnace of the Hammer Clan taken by the Orcs, almost in the whole Nordmar. You can get this quest from Tjalf the leader of the Hammer Clan, or from Reto (it’s a warrior, one of the firs characters you meet entering the Hammer Clan’s settlement).

There is a strong group of Orcs stationing in the mine and the only way to defeat them is to attack the mine from both sides. You have to talk with Mortem (he stands nearby) and make him your guide. Mort shows you the lower entrance to the mine. But you have to find a few allies in the other clans. Mort can show you the way to Fire and Wolf Clans, and you have to find a few warriors ready to help you. When you gather your party enter the mine using the lower entrance.

Do it in this way: tell Mort to lead you to Wolf Clan. There talk to their leader Grim and go to the hunter’s camp to talk to Jensgar and Lisk. You know them because you finished quests given by them (if you didn’t do that earlier you will have to accomplish them now). After joining Lisk and Jensgar take them with you ant tell Mort to lead you to Fire Clan. Find there a Nordmarian called Thorald. He wants to join you without any requests. Gather the whole party and tell Mort to lead you to the lower entrance to the mine. There is a great battle waiting for you. It ends on the higher level of the mine.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 5000
  • Reputation: Nordmar +5
  • Reputation: Hammer Clan +15

Bridge Orcs

Hjalte can give you a tip where to find the Orcs camping near the bridge (you have to give him a booze and meat). Ugolf also know something (you often cooperates with Ugolf doing quests for Hammer Clan). Just go to the place and kill all Orcs.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 2000

Stejnar’s armor

Stejnar the smith gives this quest.

When talking to Stejnar say something about armors. The smith offers you forging a special armor. You have to bring him a 10 pieces of ore firs. It takes some time even in Nordmar.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 2000
  • Reputation: Hammer Clan +3

Ore for Ugolf

Ugolf gives this quest (it’s one of a few quests connected with Ugolf). Find and bring him 50 pieces of ore.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 1500
  • Reputation: Hammer Clan +1

Tunnelrumbler

It’s a first task from Ugolf. Before he agrees to cooperate, you must pass a test. Ugolf gives you a recipe for preparing booze called Tunnelrumbler. Get ingredients, prepare booze and drink it. Ugolf gives a few quests but sometimes it’s hard to get them (there are problems with communication).

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 2000
  • Reputation: Hammer Clan +3
  • Reputation: Nordmar +3

Hidden ore

You have to talk to Hjalte and Ugolf to get this quest. Your job is to find a terrain with hidden ore. It’s not easy and you need some luck to find it. When searching the area be careful and look for a few signs: walk along one of the canyons until you reach a goblin’s camp. There are a few such camps but this particular camp is near the stone circle. There also has to be a fallen tree leaning against the wall. This tree looks like bridge and it really is a bridge. Use the tree to climb up and you reach the place you are looking for.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 2000
  • Reputation: Hammer Clan +3
  • Attributes: Smithing +1

Making booze with Ugolf

Another quest given by Ugolf. This time you have to bring him some ingredients needed for preparing booze. Bring him 20 Boozeberries, 2 pieces of ore and 2 minecrawler mands. If you don’t have it in the inventory take a walk around Hammer Clan settlement – everything can be found here.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 2000
  • Reputation: Hammer Clan +3
  • Attributes: Alchemy +1

Kill the minecrawler in the prospectors’ camp

Hauke the prospector gives this quest.

When the Nordmarian brings you to the camp, run into the cave and kill the minecrawler (before the beast kill a prospector).

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 2000
  • Reputation: Hammer Clan +5
  • Reputation: Nordmar +3
  • Attributes: Smithing +1

Kill the boss of the valley

It’s another ghost-quest. The boss of the valley resides near the lower entrance to the Hammer Clan mine. You meet him while liberating the furnace. Just kill the boss and take some experience points as a reward (there is no one who gives this quest).

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 2500

A shadowbeast horn for Pedar

Pedar the former smith gives this quest. He lives on the hill in Nordmar (Rathgar can lead you to Pedar if you help him with a stone).

You can get this quest when you complete first task given by Pedar (described later). There are no any troubles – there are a lot of shadowbeasts in Nordmar.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 2000
  • Reputation: Hammer Clan +3
  • Attributes: Smithing +1

Supplies for Pedar

Another quest from Pedar (actually it’s the first one). A smith wants you to bring him 20 ice wolf skins and 10 pieces of ore. There is no problem to get it in Nordmar.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 1500
  • Reputation: Hammer Clan +3

Approval from the ore smelters

Ingvar gives this quest, when you ask him to teach you the secret of ore smelters. When you forge a sword (described earlier) you have to earn the approval from the ore smelters: Kalan (Fire Clan), Pedar (Hammer Clan), Larson and Rune (Wolf Clan). You have already met them doing other quests (or you will). There might be a problem too: a few smiths have moved since you saw them last time, so you have to find them again (two of them are walking around Nordmar).

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 2500
  • Reputation: Nordmar +8
  • Reputation: Hammer Clan +15
  • Attributes: Smithing +5

Find a troop to attack the mine

It’s a part of the quest connected with liberation of the furnace. You have to find a few warriors eager to assist you in the battle. I already described how to do that.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 3000
  • Reputation: Hammer Clan +10

comments and responses

this game fucking sucks!!!!!!!!!! It is fucking unplayable!!!!!!! storyline is awesome and fun, but it is impossible to play with all those bugs!!!!!!! I happened to sell the shadowbeasts horn to that Pedar guy before accepting ore smelting mission and now I can't learn that pure ore smelting thing. I have read somewhere that it is possible to get that skill by doing something in the game data and so on, is there anyone out there who can explain to me how it is done???? Something about finding Ingvar's character and put true instead of false.... Thanks in advance

Even after killing the orc camp and shaman you should be able to get Osmund to take you to the camp. There you should find the corpse and get completion from Osmund and the stone.

Question:
I have talked to Osmund but I liberated the camp with the Shaman before I talked to him... (I did not want him dead and i thought it was better to fight the orcs alone) but when i killed the shaman and took his things, there was no such stone that Osmund describes.... Is this a bug or what??? Please help... [Thakns Mongo1 for your help with the towns before]

some hints
when you give ore or or blanks or bundles of weapon or anything you can just knock them down and retake them. that would help to many thinks.

when you want take a city you can just go in front of the guards with your weapon draw and when they get mad just drive them somewhere when nobody can see you kill them and do the same to the other slowly kill them all!

i see.. i also found the greatsword, mastersword, headman's and many good weapons wit blade damage above 120 sharpened and not self forged. was just wondering if there are blueprints for those swords. but then again it may be hard to forge since there's only one pure ore blank. btw, i did try to wield the demon sword. it's sort of a two hander so u cant use shield while u wield it. but it has protection as well. and i sharpened it so the blade damage is 145. try to hit orc's mercenary with it. they got down with only one blow. hehehe and orcs including elite warrior is down with max 3 non heavy blows. it is strong though. but it's just to much strength n experience (large weapon 3) to wield it. so u may be able to wield it when u're about to choose a path. good for massacre though. hehehe hope this helps the community. thanx a lot

The Rune shield is in every game, but in a random chest, so it will not be in the same location. It is the best shield, The Rune sword is the best weapon, but you will have to forge it. That requires another random item and several rare ones incl the recipe. Only the orc armor is better (and only very insignificantly) than paladin and you are so close to the end, before you can get it (free) as a reward and only if you choose the Beliar solution. There are only three headgear in the game, and the best one is of course the Adanos crown.

Ok will try to increase the endurance level. I did free the funace. Went to the furnace. killed all orcs and went to the higher level of the furnace. Counted as liberated Nordmar cos the orcs in the hammer clan's furnace are the only orcs i havent killed. oh well, maybe on the next game i'll try to work it out with the NPC companions. I dont want to replay because i found the rune shield in Tjalf's chest. In fact when i played before, it's not there. just the gold for the thieving quest. Talking about weapons, Kerth the leader from the Fire clan gave me pure magic ore after i liberated Nordmar. and when i went to free Gotha i found the blueprint of Rune shield. So there goes, i forged a rune sword. But then most of the time when i opened up a some chests, i found really cool weapons such as el bastardo, inquisitor, headman hunter (blade damage-120 sharpened), and finally i found the great sword (blade damage-125 sharpened). if the greatsword is self forged then the blade damage reach up to 135. is there anyone ever found the blueprint of the greatsword? and i already have 3 demonsword in my inventory. the blade damage is 145 sharpened. i'm a bit tempted to gather up my strength to wield it. though some magic are definitely have to be mastered because it's very useful (fire rain, summon demon). please share with me on the weapon matter. and maybe some armor or protection too. i obtain paladin armor, but once i choose path then i have to loose d adanos artifact, which very helpful currently. thanks a lot

For the tunnellrumbler quest, Endurance is the only one that matters and it has to be 200. There are lots of problems with NPC navigation AI, you have to try lots of thing to kee them from getting stuck in terrain. Sometimes they reappear, sometimes not. The companions will not leave until you approach the furnace area and all orcs are dead.

hey all, i encountered few problems when liberating the furnace of the hammer clan. first, Mort walked into wall (near Fire Clan's bridge) when i asked him to take me there. second, Thorald wont follow me after i asked him to join up the forces. so i didnt do both instead doing it myself in which i lost some experience points. then after i'm done with Jorn and Lisk and Mort, i asked them to attack together, and after the furnace is free they still remain BLUE as my companions. How can i get rid of them? finally i tried freeing the furnace myself. again i lost some experience points. has anybody ever have the same problem? one more thing, what is the strength, endurance, life energy required to take on the Tunnelrumbler quest from Ugolf? My strength is 255, life force is 310 and endurance 180 but that booze still knocked me off my feet :-( please advise me. Thanx all

I know this may sound silly guys, but did you have skill points to spend? I think it is only 5, but if he is saying that you don't have enough skill points, then it usually means you used all your points for leveling up other things and now have to wait to you get a level and a fresh batch to spend. If you don't have enough skill level, he says something like - you don't have enough skill or you are not experienced enough. The only skill bug that I know of was the Brew Poison skill. I think they fixed that.

i had 50 forging skill points and i had no problems with that =
i guess this is just another bug in this game, if you get to that point in the game you must already get used to bugs in that game... just learn it by cheat, this is ok

i'v learned all the other smith skill so far;in fact in the forging skill window i'v got all the skill but that one!
but, anyway,is it true that for learning to forge pure ore magical weapons one requires 50 as forging skill or what?
