Faring  (7/40)

Ali’s artifact

A few persons mentions Ali’s artifact, but Tom is the one who really need it.

Ali is a fat Hashishin walking around in Faring. The Ancestor Stone is an artifact. You may get from Ali in two ways: stealing it (if you are good in stealing) or just beat Ali and get his Stone when the Hashishin is unconscious. There are two possibilities: Ali carries the Stone with him (then do what I wrote earlier), or he keeps it in a chest in his quarter (then you have to steal or take the key to the chest).

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 500
  • Attributes: Thieving +1

Rocko’s cave

Rocko gives this quest (Rocko is the slave digging near the entrance to Faring).

Rocko’s job is to dig for searching treasures. He is interested in the cave near the pass to Nordmar. He wants to give you some ore if you kill the beasts living inside the cave. It’s quite easy task because there are only goblins in the cave.

This quest appears during the conversation with Zakosh the smith. It is completed when you convince the smith to teach you.

If you are strong enough (you must have a proper number of Strength points) you will achieve a success. This way you impress Zakosh so he agrees to become your teacher. To get this quest you have to finish another quest earlier (the one connected with troll hunting).

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 2500
  • Reputation: Orcs +1

The hunters of Faring

This quest appears during conversations with Orcs and the hunters: Tom and Wilson. You have to convince the hunters to name you one of them (only this way you will be allowed to cross the Nordmar pass). It means you have to finish a few quests (described later).

comments and responses

Hi.
I was just wondering, do anyone have any tip on how I can kill the three trolls near Faring? My huntingskill is crap and I have no magic
(Melee ftw :) ), but I can't hit the darn trolls :'( And it's even harder when there is 3 of them. Plz help.

Well, you have to do all the small outposts (2 - 3 rebels), and the Anog camp is useless once you've returned all the slaves), and one or two of the actual camps, remember that after giving out the blessed fire chalices, those paladins now have their magic back, not impossible, just a tad more of a fight, use terrain to shield yourself when possible and then rush them and kill them first. Just read the guide for faction factor pluses and plan your stategy, just like you did to enter Ishtar.

hey i have few questions. i want to enter Faring. my current rep with the Orcs is 46. If i want to reach up to 75 means i have to destroy some rebel camps right?! Will it work the same way as liberating the cities in Myrtana or varant? I mean if i destroy the rebel camp, will the remaining rebel (and the ones-including soldiers i Vengard) get hostile towards me? i will be choosing Innos' path and giveaway the blessed firechalices to the paladins. but i just dont want the rebel, Vengard folks, slaves n all get hostile towards me. I just want to see Kan n d inner castle before i got to liberate Faring. please suggest me. Thanx a bunch

Well...

It look likes I can't go to Nordmar from Faring.... Well you can if you liberate it, but then you are done in the other Myrtanna towns

I must go to Nordmar from Silden, right? There are mutiple passes into Nordmar, but yeah generally north from Silden

Three last question....

In u'r opinion, should I go to search the fire chalice first or find xardas first? Doesn't matter

Should i improve my reputation against hashihin?or should I liberate city in varant? You can do both, as long as it is only one, I recommend Lago If you want peaceful entrance to Ishtar to get those quests and experience, you will need 75 reputation with Hashishin, not easy but can be done without violating the other solution options

n are there another way to kill Zuben other than being a hashihin? Yes, you will have to kill him to complete the game for more than just the Beliar solution
Unfortunately I only follow the good path(rebel, ranger, etc) Suit your self, but the best way is to remain nuetral, play all sides, get the whole story line, and then determine who is really good or evil. I think you find there really isnt a good side, just three options all with slightly differing results.

No! challenge fights are a badge of honor and do not count as hostile actions, therefore fighting Pothos did not trigger your problem. Did you get caught stealing the stone from the Hashishin guy' chest in Faring or caught stealing anything else? Otherwise I have to assume you tripped the bug by at least swinging at one of the orcs that came from Faring to attack the rebels that moved into Gotha. In any event, you are pretty much screwed from any further completion of Faring quests and you have to avoid the ones that track you down in other towns, you will find that trying to continue will be quite annoying.

Paladin armor is second (and only by a small edge) to the Orc armor that the chief in Faring will give to you (no cost!). Buying Paladin armor requires a lot of cash and 50 reputation with the rebel faction.

Nah they don't catch on, just make sure you have completed all the quests associated with each group of them first.

I've teleport to another orc held town...
The orc chief didn't attack he just gives a very omnious warning.......
The Orc in faring attack me maybe because I'm defeated(not killed) Potros before I liberate Gotha
it can be isn't it?

btw
the very best armor is Paladin Armor isn't it?
n.....
did the other Druid n Ranger doesn't notice if i killed one of the druid n his ranger?

If the orcs attack you in Faring, and you did not attack one in Gotha, then you must have liberated another place or got caught stealing something. The bug is that orcs will come from Faring to attack the rebels in Gotha, as long as you don't participate in the fight, no problem, but if you draw your weapon and hit a single orc, they will forever be hostile. The threshhold for orc hostility is 3 towns liberated (other than Ardea, Gotha, and Venguard), once they are hostile you can not pacify them. Here's a test, teleport to another orc held town, try to go in and speak to the chief, if he orders you dead, then you have crossed the threshold. If he just gives a very ominous warning but does not attack, then it is the Faring Gotha bug. The problem is those orcs from Faring will eventually show up wherever you are and attack, if you fight one in sight of the non-hostile ones, they will become hostile. There is no solution once that bug is in play, except to exit Gothic 3 and restart 'New game' or load a save from before freeing Gotha.

Here are some useful suggestions for play. Save and keep saves from critical points in the game (before freeing Gotha is just one example) Do not liberate any towns anywhere (except the three exceptions above), until you have completed all but the decider quests for each town. If you want the very best armor, you have to gain entry to the castle in Faring, you need 75 rep with the orcs to get in, yes it means offing some or all of the rebels. You are free to go where ever you want and complete the game any way you wish, but remember choices have consequnces. If you want to maximize your character, you remain nuetral until there is nothing else to do, or you need more faction (not town) reputation to proceed, then you have to go at least part way against one or more of the factions. It is funny but after achieving 100% with the rangers, they are of no use, and you get all their Ranger bows to sell for cash to buy stuff. Even if you kill them all, you will still have 100% reputation.

When you freed Gotha, did you hang around until orcs showed up, and did you attack the orcs? If you did there is no recourse, those guys from Faring will follow you all over Mrytanna and attack, tis a bug, and there is no recovery. Once you kill the Demon and loot all the stuff, there is no reason to ever return to Gotha, if you do and the orcs show up, watch or teleport out. but do not engage/fight the orcs.

And you may enter Nordmar or Varant any way you wish and at any time, though survival is tough early on.
