Pets are special creatures living in different areas of Cube World. They're quite easy to spot because cause they won't attack you on sight. On this page of our guide to Cube World we have prepared a general description of pets and their abilities. However, on separate pages you will find detailed descriptions of items required for taming pets. Also, you will get to know which pets can be used as mounts and means of transport.
Taming pets
In the game, there is a system of taming animals and using them in fight. Not every creature can be turned into a pet but, there is a quite wide selection anyways.
The behavior of the creature depends on its type. Some can become perfect allies: they can heal you or fight along your side. However, others will serve you only as companions or as a mean of transport.
Taming an animal is relatively easy and it consists in feeding the favorite kind of food to the wild version of the pet. You can find more information on this subject on a separate page of our guide.
If you obtain, or buy, such food, you need to put it into the correct slot and approach the animal. At this moment, the animal will start eating from your hand. After a while, the heart symbol will appear above its head, and the animal will be yours after several moments.
Information about pets
General information:
- Your character has the right set of skills that interact with the pet's strength, and they allow you to mount many of them (the skills have been described in the "Skills" chapter).
- You can name your pet with command /namepet.
- After it dies, the pet will always re-spawn next to you.
- The "T" key summons the animal to you.
- The animal has its experience level and can build up experience.
- The pet you ride on has its endurance level. You'll refill pet's stamina by giving it something to drink;
- Some of the pets have healing skills.
- There are several types of pets, thanks to which you will be able to select the one that corresponds to your playing style.
Types of pets
There are five types of Pets in Cube World:
Melee pets
It's a bunch of animals that will attack enemies within range of their paws. If you attack the enemy with a melee weapon, you can count on their help, for example - Crab, Turtle, Raccoon, Slime.
Ranged pets
If you like to wield a ranged weapon, then they are the perfect companions for you. They will attack an enemy that is even several meters away from you. For example - Snout Beetle.
Healing pets
Pet that will save you on the battlefield more than once. Currently this is only a Spitter.
Mounts
There are many companions in the game who will make your travels more pleasant like Alpaca, Pig, Wolf.
Tank
Turtle is currently the only character that acts as a tank. It takes on heavy damage and distracts opponents.
