In Xenoblade Chronicles 3, you can use fast travel. From this guide page you will learn how to move quickly around the map.

As you travel the world in Xenoblade 3, you will discover various landmarks, rest spots or colonies. It's these areas that you'll be able to fast travel between.

To fast travel:

1. enter the map (by pressing X),
2. choose the part of the world you want to go to
3. hover over any landmark,
4. select the time of day with the L or R buttons and then confirm.

The option to select the time of day will appear later in the game. You may occasionally be locked out from traveling to certain locations, forcing you to progress the story and wait for these points to open again.

Colonies serve as bases where you can shop, meet the locals and start new side quests. Rest areas are camps where you can level up your character and save the game.
