Make sure that you are driving a fast car and have lots of weapons and gadgets on you

I recommend that you get prepared appropriately for each of the missions described further in this chapter. First of all, try to obtain a good grenade launcher that is going to be very effective, while smashing the vehicles in the convoy and eliminating the enemies on the convoy (an assault rifle may also prove useful here). Another important thing is the explosives, which you should also have on you. Try to craft or buy as many frag grenades and the IEDs, as possible. Finally, get a good vehicle, thanks to which, right at the beginning of the side mission, you will be capable of approaching the convoy's route quickly, and prepare the ambush.

Crossroads is a good spot for an ambush

After you start a given mission, the game will display the convoy's route and you should get to the convoy as quickly as possible. This will win you more time to prepare the ambush and to reach the spot, where you want to set it. When it comes to the attacks themselves, I recommend that you launch them near crossroads and near the hackable elements of the surroundings. What is meant here is, predominantly, bridges whose raising will prevent the convoy to get away from the scene quickly. Also, as an element of your preparations, I recommend that you place several IEDs on the road and find a good cover (e.g. a wall or a building), from behind of which to attack the convoy.

The grenade launcher is perfect for destroying the vehicles on the convoy

The attack itself should be different, depending on what the objectives of the mission are. I you are allowed to kill the person(s) on the convoy, you can rely on the aggressive approach, use the grenade launcher and explosives only. In such situations, it is a good idea to blow up the marked vehicle before the people on that vehicle manage to get out.

You may need to take down the individual people on the convoy

If, on the other hand, the mission objectives specify that you need to take down the target(s), things get complicated. In such situations, I recommend that you do not use the grenade launcher nor the explosives, or use them carefully, only to blow up the specific car in front of the convoy. What is different here is the ensuing fight, during which you need to avoid attacking the people marked by the game. What is even more, you need to use covers and find ways to approach those people safely, in order to neutralize them in melee. You should not take any risk, especially in situations in which the marked person is armed with a shotgun or an automatic weapon.

Watch out for the enforcers and the reinforcements

There also are additional handicaps, connected with attacking the convoys, which it is good to know about. What is meant here are:

• The necessity to eliminate the Enforcers and the other elite opponents. Use the grenade launcher or explosives to eliminate them quickly and also avoid staying out in the open.
• The possibility of reinforcements appearing on the scene. You can prevent it by eliminating quickly the enemies that can call for reinforcements or by using Aiden's skills to block that ability.
• The necessity to chase the target. This happens when you fail to blow up or immobilize the marked car in the convoy. During the chase, you should rely on aggressive attacks and try to stop the escaping vehicle before it reaches its destination.
• The necessity to lose the chase. Depending on the requirements of the mission, you may either need to lose the people from the convoy that you attacked, or the police that have been called in. Regardless of the situation, rely on hacking.
