The world in Wasteland 3 has a semi-open structure. After the linear sequence at the beginning of the game, you will be sent to the Rangers' headquarters. Near its main gate, you'll find an icon that will allow you to move to Colorado Springs. A wilderness pass is in the garage. There you will find Kodiak, a vehicle you can use to explore the map of the world.

Once you decide to use the vehicle, you will be transported to the Colorado wilderness. You will observe the world from an isometric view and move only the vehicle. When traveling along the available paths, the game will display information about locations in the corners of the screen. Some of them are only related to single tasks. The rest, like The Bizarre, you'll visit more than once. When you reach your destination, a symbol will appear allowing you to enter the location.

In addition to fixed points on the map, you can also find random points. These can be storage lockers or shelters where you can, e.g. repair the vehicle.

In addition, you can also have random encounters. This will initiate a dialog. If you have a well-developed skill (the boss or survival), you will be able to avoid a fight. If you fail, remember that Kodiak is also part of your team. It is equipped with a cannon that can help a lot in battles.

Keep in mind that you don't have access to the entire map right from the start. Some areas will have green fog. These locations have increased radiation levels. To get there, you have to upgrade Kodiak first.
