Last update: 24 May 2018

In this chapter, you will learn how the damage system works and how you can mix different types of damage together. This section contains general information about the Damage 2.0 system in Warframe. There are 14 different types of damage that can be dealt in Warframe.

The damage indicators in the game are divided into several types and each of them is shown separately for each bullet that was fired from your weapon - General Information | Damage 2.0 System | Warframe - Damage 2.0 System - Warframe Game Guide

The damage indicators in the game are divided into several types and each of them is shown separately for each bullet that was fired from your weapon:

  1. Default damage is marked in white,
  2. Crits and Stealth attacks are displayed in yellow,
  3. More severe crits are shown in orange,
  4. Red crits are the most powerful,
  5. The damage absorbed by shields is usually marked in blue,
  6. The damage received by overshields is shown in purple,
  7. Negated damage (that is, damage applied when the opponent is invulnerable) is marked in gray.

In Warfame, different types of damage are met with different types of armour and shields. It is recommended to vary the types of damage dealt depending on the faction you face or to combine them. In addition to elemental damage and multiple combinations thereof, you can also inflict Impact damage, Puncture damage, and Slash damage. There are still some unique damage types to mention, such as Void Damage and True Damage. Void damage is not typical and cannot be obtained from applying mods, as is also the case with True Damage. True damage is a unique type that is able to bypass the opponent's shields and armour (e.g. slash damage, if it manages to proc its status effect, it will begin to damage the foe over time while bypassing his armour - a good example here is Ash's fourth skill). Void Damage can be dealt only by the Warframe Operator and is very effective against the Sentient - this option is available after completing The Second Dream quest.

Opponents can be divided according to their armour and shield types:

  1. Flesh - this type of armour is utilized by the following opponents: all of the Corpus forces, Warframes, Spectres, and Stalkers.
  2. Cloned Flesh - this type of armour is utilized by all opponents from the Grineer faction, as well as the Corrupted Grineer, and the Grineer Archwing.
  3. Infested Flesh - this type of armour is utilized by Infested Runners, Infested Osprey, and Crawlers.
  4. Infested Sinew - this type of armour is utilized only by the Jordas Golem.
  5. Infested - this type of armour is utilized by all of the Infested Chargers and Leapers.
  6. Fossilized - this type of armour is utilized by all of the Infested Ancients, MOAs, and Boilers, as well as the Lephantis boss.
  7. Alloy Armor - this type of alloy armour is utilized by the more powerful members of the Grineer faction - bosses, Infested Grineer, Warframes, Stalkers, and Bombards.
  8. Ferrite Armor - this type of armour is utilized by all of the Archwing Grineer, Wardens, humanoid Corpus bosses, Spectres, and the Rhino who gain it by using their Iron Skin ability.
  9. Proto Shield - this type of shields is utilized by all enemies from the Corpus faction, including the Zanuka, Zanuka Hunters, and Stalkers.
  10. Shield - this type of shields is utilized by all enemies from the Corpus faction, Grineer bosses, Orokin drones, Warframes, Spectres, Corrupted Crewmen, and Corrupted Vor.
  11. Machinery - this type of armour is utilized by the drones which guard the data contained within Grineer servers, they are called Regulators, and you will encounter them in missions which revolve around stealing data. Grineer Rollers also utilize this armour type.
  12. Robotic - this type of armour is utilized by all of the Corpus machines, including the Ambulas and the Zanuka.
