On this page of the guide to Void Bastards, we will show you how to increase the health bar. More health points can greatly increase the chances of survival and come in handy during long reconnaissance missions taking place on large enemy ships.
Blueprints increasing the health bar
The best way to extend the health bar is to purchase blueprints at the Workbench. Padded Jacket (presented in the picture) is one of the most important ones. To unlock this blueprint, you need Restraint Pad, which can be made from crafting materials or found on one of the visited enemy ships.
This project grants you a permanent 200 health points bonus. This means that even in case of death, the next prisoner will already start with this jacket and the health bonus.
Later in the game, you will be able to buy new blueprints from the same group - they will replace the basic jacket. For example, Flak Vest blueprint adds 250 health points, and Carapace blueprint adds 350 health points.
Brawny Trait
Another way to get extra health points is to get Brawny trait. Its effect is to provide more HP. A trait is one of the statistics of the characters, so it applies only to the current prisoner. After their death, another prisoner will no longer have this trait (until it gets obtained again).
You can draw Brawny trait when you get a new prisoner. In addition, it is possible to get it after entering Gene Twister object on the nebula map or after finding GENE room on the ship you are exploring. There, you will find a machine that allows you to add or remove traits. The Brawny trait can be among the three available in the machine.
