On this page of the Valheim guide, you will learn how to create a Cart and how to use it.
A wooden cart is extremely useful in any major resource trip. Inventory capacity in Valheimis limited – each character's basic weight limit has been set to 300 - not much, considering that one stack of wood (50 pieces) weighs 100.
How to craft a cart?
You will need 20 pieces of plain wood and 10 bronze nails to craft a cart. You can only make bronze nails after building a forge and making a bronze bar – you make it by combining copper and tin bars. More information about mining and melting metals can be found on a separate page in this guide.
After making 10 Bronze Nails, equip your character with a hammer and select Cart from the Misc tab. You can place it wherever you want and start using it right away.
How to use a cart?
To load or unload a cart, get close to it to make the Storage command appear on the screen. When you confirm an action, your character's inventory will appear on the screen, as well as the space available on the cart - you can move items between these windows (drag and drop) or click the Take all button to immediately move all the goods from the cart to your inventory.
To properly grab the cart, stand in the place shown in the image above – between the arms of the cart, facing the loading area. Press the E key when the Cart command appears on the screen - your character will grab the arms and be able to start pulling the cart.
It should be noted here that while pulling the cart, your character can still use sprinting and even fight, but this will be somewhat limited. Additional activities will obviously consume the stamina bar. It is also worth knowing that:
- The cart is not indestructible: it can receive damage from enemies, and also during careless driving - it can get stuck on obstacles, fall from heights;
- A cart can get stuck: if you drive between trees or rocks, the cart can get blocked;
- The weight of the cart matters: a loaded cart is much difficult to control. If you want to go up a steep hill, you will have to sprint.
