Forge is an obvious choice if the majority of your team, including your protagonist, focus on direct combat with little or none magic - Forge | Spires - Spires - Tyranny Game Guide

Forge is an obvious choice if the majority of your team, including your protagonist, focus on direct combat with little or none magic. By using the forge you can upgrade collected or purchased items which will increase their bonus permanently. This requires certain number of rings and recruits, which was presented in the following table:
