Forge-Bound Iron - side quest | The Disfavored Camp Tyranny Guide

Last update: 25 November 2016

The following chapter is a comprehensive description of the events that unfold in these locations: The Disfavored Camp (M2), Echocall Crossing(M5) and Echocall Crossing Village(M6), which are all included in the Forge-Bound Iron quest. You will find a break down of all the tasks in this side quest, which will allow you to finish it in the way you like.

Subsequent subjects were discussed in appropriate sections.

Isotanis

To get this quest, you have to find Isotanis in the Disfavored Camp and talk to him. During the dialogue. During the conversation, he will remark that the Disfavored are short on certain supplies, and will imply that the rebels might have overtaken the cashes with iron. You can decline or accept the quest. Depending on whether you will take the quest or mock the Disfavored, you can gain either favor or wrath.

After the conversation is finished, the quest will appear in your journal, but the location will be unavailable. To make the Echocall Crossing appear on the map of the Venriedn's Well you have to finish the Hegemon's Will quest, as well as begin the quest The Battle of the Echocall Crossing (look: chapters dedicated to the quests). The quest Forge-Bound Iron will be realized simultaneously with the quest in the Echocall Crossing and to be able to do this quest, you have to finish all of the quests mentioned in this section.

Look for clues

Before you reach the character that's responsible for stealing the iron, you can find a couple of leads that will get you closer to them. In some cases the lead will be tied to a concrete item that you obtain; in others, the journal will just update after a magnifying glass interaction.

The first couple of those can be found in the Echocall Crossing, on the other side of the river. You will only be able to access them after finishing all actions of the Battle of the Echocall Crossing quest in this area.

The last one can be found in the Echocall Village near the courtyard with the trap. You will be able to access them even during the Battle of the Echocall Crossing quest in this area.

Retrieve the iron

Regardless of the decision you make during the Battle of the Echocall Crossing quest, you will notice a villager standing near the courtyard [1], and an interaction icon will appear on the door [2] - Forge-Bound Iron - side quest | The Disfavored Camp - The Disfavored Camp - Tyranny Game Guide

Regardless of the decision you make during the Battle of the Echocall Crossing quest, you will notice a villager standing near the courtyard [1], and an interaction icon will appear on the door [2]. The iron that Isotanis ordered you to retrieve is there. To get there, you either have to pry open the door (Required Athletics 34) or lock pick the lock (Required Wits 39).

Below, you can find two ways of finishing this quest.

Kill the old man and enter the house

If none of your characters have the skills required to open the door, you can talk to Old Man Mua [1]. He will be hostile, and regardless of what you say, a possibility of killing him without consequences will appear. At his body, you will find key to the house. Inside will be two crates, which can be looted. One of them contains an iron ingot. Take them with you and go to the Disfavored Camp.

Lock pick / Pry open the door

If any of the members of your crew will be able to utilize their skills to open the door, you will be able to spare the old man and enter the building peacefully.

On the picture above, you can see the interior of the house - Forge-Bound Iron - side quest | The Disfavored Camp - The Disfavored Camp - Tyranny Game Guide

On the picture above, you can see the interior of the house. There are not many areas where you can interact. Both containers are indicated. The barrel [1] contains an iron ingot, and the crate [2] generates random loot.

After you snatch the iron, the old men will enter and tell you to get out ASAP. Below, you will find a complete tree of this conversation:

Path no. 1

Demand that he explained where did he take the iron from.

Choice 1: Ask whether the rebels are forcing him to collaborate with them - he will spit on the protagonist and say he's not interested in the war.

  • Explain that he will answer for treason anyway - he begs for mercy, breaks down and floods with tears.
  • Spare him, but take the iron - he will be grateful and let you take the iron.

Choice 2: Ask whether Matani was supposed to take the iron - you hit a dead end with this one.

Choice 3: Kill him - The Old Man Mua dies, and you're free to proceed with the mission.

Path no. 2

Just kill him - The Old Man Mua dies, and you're free to proceed with the mission.

During this quest, there appears a couple of ways to kill him instantly, but you can navigate the conversations in such a way that he survives. In the broad context, his fate depends on the decision you've made with regard to the village.

Collect the prize

After retrieving the iron, the only thing left to do is to go back to the Disfavored Camp to collect the reward. Considering the localization of the Echocall Village on the map of the district, you can attend different quests in nearby villages first. Traveling to the Disfavored Camp takes 5 hours and the time will be subtracted from the total amount allocated to finishing the main thread in Act I.

When you go to Isotanis, you will be able to make the following decisions:

Choice 1: Lie that the rebels have taken the whole iron

  • Bleden Mark - gain medium wrath
  • Disfavored - lose medium favor

Award: Iron Ingot

Choice 2: Give the iron to him

  • Disfavored - gain medium favor

Award: 1000 copper rings
