The following chapter provides a complete description of gameplay in Edngering Ruins. Here, you will solve your main quest and will learn useful tips about the gameplay.
Certain aspects have been described in separate sections.
Prologue
You will start your adventure by the collapsed canyon. There you will find Aurora, a member of Disfavored. She will great you and provide some tips on the situation in Edngering Ruins. Regardless of the selected dialogue option, your conversation will be interrupted by the enemy. It's a tutorial that will introduce the combat mode. You shouldn't find it difficult to deal with your opponent. Search the corpses, collect items and follow Aurora.
You will come across three opponents who surrounded one of the Disfavored. You need to join him but the path is blocked by a rock [1]. You can squeeze between the rocks or push it on one of your foes [2]. We highly recommend the second option but in order to do that, you're hero will need 30 points of Athletics.
The mentioned member of the Disfavored cannot be killed, so you won't have to worry about him. Finish the fight and speak with him. You can offer your help but he will reject it.
Verse
Move forward till you come across another group of enemies. This time a member of the Scarlet Chorus will be surrounded. Approach Verse to trigger conversation and make her join you. The first dialogue option doesn't matter but during the next one you can decide whether you want to join the battle or you want to know more about Verse first. If you select the first option and skip further ones, you will lose a chance to gain reputation among your first companion. Your further decisions will bring you closer to Loyalty or fright, which determines whether or not you can use special abilities of your companions.
Beat the rebels
Focus on injured minions first. Your companion can be killed so use the pause button to give orders. Remember that from now on, you will have to switch between characters to use their special abilities. Finish the battle and use the available dialogue options. You can also decide to send your companion away and gain more fright. If you strictly confirm that you no longer want her in your team, you will gain points. After this you can approach her and agree to work together.
Follow the path down the stairs and you will come across some more troops. Depending on the dialogue options you choose, you can gain more fright points. Regardless of your decision, the battle will begin. Verse is not too resistant when it comes to hits, so use the pause button and use healing potions from your inventory. It's going to be much easier if you focus on the leader first, and only then deal with his minions. Nearby Scarlet Chorus troops will take care of the remaining rebels, so focus on enemies who are a direct threat.
The hostage
After the battle is over, one of the Disfavored will ask for your help. One of the rebels took a Disfavored hostage. Follow him and you will realize that the mentioned rebel is pointing a dagger at Drastus - commander of the Disfavored. You have several dialogue options that will affect your reputation among the Disfavored and the Scarlet Chorus. If you have 30 points of Athletics, you can take down the rebel. This is by far the best option as you will gain reputation among both parties and Drastus will live. You can also let him die and depending on your decisions gain reputation among one or the other party.
Drastus will hand over notes that were taken from the rebels. If you skip this step, you will move forward to the next available location. You can also offend the commander and lose reputation among the Disfavored. If you are going to support the Disfavored, you should investigate the scrolls. The details that you will come across will reveal some minor plot aspects but will not affect the gameplay. If you pick any other dialogue option during the hostage sequence, the same papers will be delivered by Aurora, who will take over command after Drastus dies.
On your way to The Disfavored Camp
Now all you have left is to continue your journey. Walk through the gate and use the marked symbol to proceed. You will be taken to the map view where you will have to choose your net destination.
