Marketing allows you to run three types of campaigns. The first two are used to increase hospital reputation. The difference between them is that the general campaign will promote the entire hospital , while illness marketing will promote only a specific department . The second type of marketing will attract patients with an illness matching the department you selected. Both types of campaigns will work fine at the beginning of your gameplay when your reputation is still low. Furthermore, the latter type of campaign will allow you to select patients who will visit your hospital. This will limit the number of patients you cannot treat due to lack of appropriate medical equipment. The general campaign can also be useful later on in the game if your reputation gets deflated by e.g. high mortality rate of patients.
The third type of campaign focuses on attracting specific personnel to work in your hospital . You will find this type of marketing useful when you don't have enough specialists with certain qualifications, and for some reason you cannot educate further your current staff.
