In Tropico 6 you can play missions prepared by developers or select a random game. With this first option, you must perform the tasks and objectives imposed by game designers. The second option gives you almost unlimited freedom. Below you will find general information related to these types of gameplay.
Missions
Unlike previous productions in the series, Tropico 6 abandons the story campaign. This means that you receive a number of unrelated missions, which you can play in any order. Each subsequent scenario is unlocked after completing the appropriate number of available missions.
On the task selection panel you will receive basic information related to the task. You will learn from it in what age the mission takes place [1], you will also learn about the objectives of the task [2] and what it puts emphasis on [3]. In addition, you will also learn about the special conditions that apply during its duration. These are deviations from the standard gameplay mechanics, such as the ability to build the same building several times, which by default can be erected only once. Here you will also find a choice of difficulty levels [4].
Sandbox Mode
The sandbox mode, on the other hand, gives you unlimited possibilities to have fun. Thanks to it you can choose any parameters of the game and you do not have to perform any imposed missions. In this mode you can select one of the previously implemented maps. Then you make decisions related to the political situation, the frequency of natural disasters, and so on.
However, you can also choose to create a random map. Then you will be able to select all the most important parameters, and the game will create a map with your settings. In this case, you determine, among other things, the size of the island, its shape and the amount of natural resources available. You also need to determine the climate on the island - the drier the less vegetation and the poorer the quality of the soil.
Due to the wide range of modification options, this mode will work well if you are looking for a real challenge - then you can select the toughest possible conditions like harsh environmental or political situation. You can also relax and enjoy the freedom to build with unlimited funds.
