Random events
One of the ways to recruit heroes are random events. During the game, you will face some choices from time to time that will give you an additional hero (not a lord). Such a character can go over the maximum number of heroes.
Recruitment and its limitations
To recruit heroes and some types of lords, you need to build the appropriate buildings first.
Acquiring new characters has certain limitations. When hiring a Lord, you should remember that your military expenses will increase by 1% (more about it on a separate page Army -Recruitment and replenishment).
Additionally, you can only have a limited number of heroes at your service at a time. You can increase it with the appropriate buildings.
To recruit lords and heroes, select a settlement and click one of the buttons highlighted above. They are at the bottom of the settlement card (the first one concerns lords, the second one - heroes).
Recruiting new characters is quite similar, regardless of whether you are recruiting a minor hero or an army leader. You will be able to select units after clicking on the button.
The character skill card is on the left side of the screen. In the middle at the top (above the character portraits) you can select the type of hero.
For magic units, schools of magic will also appear on the left side of the middle card.
In the top left corner you can also see the maximum number of heroes you can recruit (lords have no such limit). However, characters acquired through random events may go over this limit.
Below the character name are the starting traits the hero has. Check them before recruiting the hero.
