Titan Encounter | Combat Titanfall Guide

Farewell
Farewell "friend".

There are 3 types of Titans, or rather Chassis, in the game. Each one affects movement in different way, thus supporting various tactics. Ogre is great for melee combat - it can easily destroy Stryder, as soon as it gets to catch it. Below, there is a short description of three of the types and some hints on how to deal with them.

Ogre

Ogre is the most powerful Chassis - the best armor allows it to take much damage before finally getting destroyed. It can easily fight on the frontline and at close quarters. Having only one Dash sometimes makes it hard for it to avoid bullets.

How to play: Remember that, even though you have a strong armor, you are not indestructible - fighting 2 opponents is challenging, while taking on more than that is a suicide and a waste of a good machine. Try to attack your enemies with accurate shots fired from heavy weapons (e.g. Arc Cannon) and do not let them get behind you - beware enemy Pilots who can easily jump on you. Do not forget about heavy melee attack. Avoid bottlenecks, from which it is hard to escape.

How to destroy: Try to keep your distance, unless you are playing as another Ogre and you want to ask the opponent to a deadly dance. It is nearly impossible for it to avoid fire from a quick-fire weapon (e.g. X0-16 Chaingun). If you are playing as a Stryder, make sure that you are attacking the enemy from a distance and avoid its fire - you should not have much trouble with that in 1 vs 1 situation.

Stryder

Styder's strength lays in its speed, not endurance. It can easily avoid enemy bullets (up to 3 Dashes), however, close encounters or melee duels may prove fatal for it.

How to play: First and foremost, keep your distance. Avoid getting too close to an opponent. Choose a weapon that can fire while you are running (e.g. 40MM Cannon). Also avoid fighting too many opponents at the same time and never allow enemy Titan to engage you in melee combat - you will most likely lose such duel.

How to destroy: As much as it is possible try to get close and perform melee attacks. If you do not feel that this tactics is for you, equip yourself with something fast (X0-16 Chaingun) so you could hit a moving Titan. If you are playing as an Ogre, try to drive the enemy Titan into a bottleneck, where it will have a hard time trying to navigate. Then shower it with rockets.

Atlas

Atlas is somewhere in the middle - it neither excels at speed and agility nor has extraordinary endurance. This is why it can effectively fight any other opponent using various tactics.

How to play: There are many ways you can play as an Atlas. Choose a tactics and weaponry matching your preferred play style. However, you should not jump into melee combat too often, unless you want to finish off a weakened opponent.

How to destroy: Any available way. Atlas is quite agile, so it is best to attack it with something of high accuracy and damage (e.g. Plasma Railgun). Be especially careful, when the enemy Titan uses Core ability - when that happens, it is good to hide somewhere.

While playing as Pilot, there is no better way to destroy enemy machines than rodeo. Remember though that you are then exposed to fire. You can minimize the risk by attacking Auto-Titans, especially those set in Guard mode.
