Children in the shelter | Moral choices and contact with other people This War of Mine Guide

Last update: 13 January 2017

During the game, a child may come across your shelter. You have to remember that children are a great responsibility, and they will be more trouble than help.

Sometimes an adult will knock on your door, sometimes an adult with a child, and sometimes a lonely kid. - Children in the shelter | Moral choices and contact with other people - Moral choices and contact with other people - This War of Mine Game Guide
Sometimes an adult will knock on your door, sometimes an adult with a child, and sometimes a lonely kid.

Children in the expansion:

  1. Kalina
  2. Misha
  3. Sergei
  4. Iskra
  5. Ivano
  6. Lydia

Child:

  1. Eats less than an adult - one small meal is enough (an adult needs two such meals);
  2. If a child is sick or wounded it needs the same treatment as an adult;
  3. A child gets emotionally attached to it's keeper, and if they die, the child will suffer a lot;
  4. Practically doesn't help adults;
  5. Can't trade;
  6. Can't talk to neighbors;
  7. Can't keep watch at night;
  8. Can't go out to the city at night;
  9. Makes adults feel better if its happy;
  10. Initially can't do much, but it can learn from adults. It takes a lot of time, however, and there's no point teaching a kid every single skill. You should teach children how to set rat traps, how to use a condenser, and weed out cucumbers and other vegetables;
  11. Children can sleep in the same bed as their keepers. If the keeper is lost, the kid may start calling another person "uncle" or "aunt" if they talk with the kid a lot - this person becomes the next keeper. For examples: Iskra was depressed after losing her father. Katia talked and played with her daily. At some point she became "aunt" for Iskra.
  12. Children are terrified if they are hurt;
  13. They can make their own toys, which cheers them up;
  14. They get discouraged easily.
