A specific form of interaction is trading stuff. Merchants and neighbors in need might come to your doors or be found in various locations visited by night. To have a deal, you must offer items of similar value to those that you want to obtain. Medicaments are most valuable, then food and weapon. To gain items from those categories you must offer a lot of junk or something from the same group. No one sane won't give us bandages for few coffee beans.
The trader usually comes round every three days and always has different inventory. Mind you that during initial stages of the game, there's no point in gathering construction materials because they can be bought for peanuts. You're able to buy a handful of wood and other materials for just one herb pill.
