I have already mentioned that most of the streets in the city are guarded. What is even more Garret often needs to deal not with single guards, but with groups of two, three or even four. Just like in the case of the main chapters of the campaign mode, I recommend that you constantly operate in shadows and avoid direct confrontation with guards, at any cost. After you walk into a new location, it I, therefore, a good idea to spend some time on learning the routes of the patrolmen . This will, first of all, allow you to save up on constant using of throwables to distract them because, as long as you know what to expect, simple staying in shadows, combined with the occasional Swoop, will do.

The important piece of information is that, as you progress in the storyline, the distribution and the make-up of the opponents, in some of the locations, change. A perfect example here is the Baron's Way South because, at the beginning stages of the game, one of the main streets of this district, is not guarded by anyone. In the following chapters, two guards appear here, which makes you cross the area less hastily and hide in the darkened areas to the left and to the right of the main street. Fortunately, not all of the changes are negative because, for example, the Clock Tower Plaza becomes a safer place towards the end of the game.

Note- if Garret is spotted, you do not need to load the last saved game straight away. It is easier for your character to escape than in the course of the main chapters of the campaign mode. You simply need to reach one of the passages between locations (e.g. a gate, a window or door to a tavern) and use it, on only to walk with your life, but also to end the current pursuit.

Hostile characters is not the only threat that you need to remember about, while exploring the city. Virutually, each one of the districts that you explore, has multiple levels so, depending on what you prefer, you can cross the sewers under the street level, remain in the streets or walk over the planks and rooftops above. It is recommended that you often change your routes, but you need to watch out for falls from heights, because they can severely wound you or kill you instantaneously. Therefore, the best way to get off roofs and balconies over ladders, or by jumping down only where the platform below is not too low. Apart from that, it is a good idea to invest in the upgrade that increases the height of safe jump.

Garret can take a look into the selected buildings in the city, both while on a mission and off his own bat. This is, of course, recommended that you do that, because you can find many valuable items and, apart from that, you can find alternative routes. Also, it is worth remembering that there are various traps that guard access to some of the buildings. I recommend that, after you enter each new room, you examine the area to prevent springing one of them.
