The Crossroads is the fourth mission of the campaign in They Are Billions we describe. This is the first mission in the story mode, in which the player has the task to destroy the Villages of Doom, i.e., villages filled with undead. In this Chapter, you will find a walkthrough and tips related to the Crossroads mission.
The mission
How to start: this mission is unlocked after completing The Hidden Valley.
Mission objective:
- Colony population: 400.
- Destroy all Villages of Doom.
As usual for mission in the story mode, set up 3 Tents and start exploring the area using your units. Send Rangers to the east, where a stone deposit is. At the same time, build 1-2 Hunter's Cottages, then a Sawmill and several additional Tents. After all, install 2 Tesla Tower to get to the stone Deposit, where it is necessary to install, of course, a Quarry.
Continue to clear the neighborhood of corpses and build another Sawmill in the meantime, plus some Tents to get extra gold and free recruits. It is worth installing a wall east of the Quarry, all the way to the western edge of the map - thus isolating yourself from the undead. Remember to build Wooden Towers at the wall, in order to facilitate the defenses. When you collect the necessary resources, build the Soldier's Center and start recruiting troops.
Now your goal is a gradual expansion to get additional colony strength, and systematic modernization of the army. By this point, you should already have access to Rangers and Soldiers. Train your Rangers and start your expansion to the North, where you will find an iron deposit - set up a quarry there to excavate the deposit and be able to train Soldiers.
It's time to start to fulfill the main objectives of the mission - i.e. destroying the Villages of Doom. These can be found in two places - in the center and in the northeast corner of the map. Send at least a dozen units, preferably soldiers - as soon as you attack, enemies will literally pour in. If their numbers you will suppress your units, retreat behind the walls, and safely get rid of the enemies. Finally, start an attack on the Villages of Doom located in the corner of the map - when you destroy them, the mission will be over.
Completing the mission will unlock three new ones - Coast of Bones, The Narrow Pass and the Alpha Communications Center. However, access to two of them will be blocked through a new activity, the Infected Swarm. These are special stages, during which you have to survive the siege of enemy units. It's not worth to take these missions at this point - the number of units that you will have depends on your Empire Points, which are awarded for completing missions. At this moment, you won't have enough of them to cope with these missions. Complete missions in the order presented in this guide to survive the Infected Swarms without problems.
Additional advice
Finally, here are some tips to help you during the Crossroads mission in They Are Billions. Namely:
- As in the previous mission - The Hunter's Meadow - there are no infected swarms here. However, it is still necessary to secure the entire settlement with a wall to prevent the undead from entering your buildings.
- The soldiers are very useful for that - they cope better with large groups of enemies, and the noise is not a problem.
- After completing the mission, you can unlock new activities - Infected Swarms. Don't take these missions right away because you just can't handle them - it's worth completing the other available missions first. Read more about them in a separate section.
