Familiars are a kind of new pets available in The Sims 4 Realm of Magic. They are not as complex as the companions in the Dogs and Cats add-on, but they provide bonuses to the owner. How to get a familiar?
The easiest way to get a familiar is to visit the Realm of Magic - check the page dedicated to this hidden location and find out how to get there. In the Realm of Magic you just need to go to the caster alley and visit the shop - you can choose from several different familiars. The second way is to read books in the main location of the Realm of Magic. Click on one of the libraries and select "Search for books" - this way you can get a random familiar or discover a new spell. The last way is to win a magic duel for artifacts - then you also have a chance to get a familiar.
What are the benefits of familiars?
In the Realm of Magic you will find several different familiars, but they differ only in appearance. Each familiar offers the same bonus - your Sim becomes self-confident. Please note that in order for the bonus to work, familiar has to be summoned. To do this, use the familiar orb.
How to turn a dog or cat into a familiar?
If you have the Dogs and Cats add-on, the Realm of Magic add-on introduces another new feature. Your dog or cat may become a familiar. Just click on it, select the "Magic" tab and then the "Turn pet into familiar" option. So the transformed dog or cat will continue to retain the properties and characteristics of the animal. Despite that, if it stays next to the owner, Sim will receive a bonus provided by familiar.
