One of the quickest ways to kill a wolf is to prepare the right trap.

The spear trap will require a bit more resources.

Luring a normal wolf close to it (by using a live-bait for instance) will result in killing the beast, allowing acquisition of hide and meat.

The wolf has to run into the trap - it cannot be activated remotely.

This is the most effective trap in the game. It can be used not only for killing wolves, but also boars. It can also wound a bear or an elder wolf (it's good to use a bow against them, in addition).
