The Drone in The Surge The Surge Guide

Last update: 09 May 2019

This chapter of the guide discusses modules of the drone that you can find in the game. The chapter mentions individual modules and provides hints on using them.

General information

You obtain the drone the first time you get to Central production B. Obtaining it is a must and without it, you cannot progress in the game.

Modules can be swapped from the level of the inventory, or with a hotkey. - The Drone in The Surge - Equipment - The Surge Game Guide
Modules can be swapped from the level of the inventory, or with a hotkey.

The drone is designed to reach areas that are unreachable to you and to overload systems high above. Some of them will be initially inaccessible and, only after you have obtained BOTEC core in Resolve Biolabs, will you be able to use more of the drone's capabilities.

Apart from that, the drone is perfect for attracting enemy attention. A single shot will allow you to separate a single enemy from the pack, thanks to which you will be able to fight balanced battles and save HP for more demanding ones.

Where to obtain

Focused Infra-Blaster

After it is activated, the drone fires two projectiles towards the locked enemy. If you have an appropriate load of energy, the enemy will take more damage.

Drone registration, after you enter Central Production B. Storyline event.

This is one of the most effective modules at the beginning of the game. As mentioned before, thanks to this one, you can lure a single opponent from the whole group. The module allows you to conserve a single energy charge, if the enemy is not around, and deal more damage this way, or even kill the enemy in critical condition. Note that if you have previously locked on the enemy, the projectiles can travel through walls.

Where to obtain

Concussive Module

A direct, charged, attack.

The module can be found on the ramp in Central Production B. Near the Nanocores cache and the door that you cross to get to BIG SISTER 1/3.

In my personal opinion, this is one of the less effective ways to use the drone. During the charge, it often misses the target that has already managed to change positions, after you have issued the command. The attack deals rather negligible damage.

Where to obtain

Emergency Coolant Vent

Slows down the locked enemy

Lower levels of the Venting Tower. Before you enter the shortcut area to the Med Bay. Hidden among boxes on the right.

This module is especially effective against fast-moving opponents. The slow-down effect is not too long and it does not play any key role, but it is useful if you want to win some time to regenerate health.

Where to obtain

Flamethrower Tank

Fires flames towards the enemy.

In the first room of R&D, on the right wall, there is a grate to the maintenance tunnel. Jump onto the nearby table, smash the grate and walk inside.

This module is especially useful in areas with flammable gas present in them. By setting the gas on fire, you can incinerate the enemies and kill them. It is a good idea to use it as often as possible in situations when the enemy is armed with a flamethrower and refuses to change positions.

Where to obtain

Anti-Kinetic Shield

Absorbs damage dealt to you after the shield is activated.

After you exit Med Bay in Executive Forum in the first room with three security guards. Under the stairs on the right.

One of the better functions of the drone. It is helpful not only during boss fights, but also against opponents with numerical superiority. The damage absorption is not too high, but it is useful in any situation and lets you economize on healing shots.

Name

Functioning

Where to obtain

Industrial Electromagnet

Lures the enemy into an area

Resolve Biolabs. After you jump down into the crack in the ground at the lab courtyard, follow the corridor and find the broken barrier after you exit. Jump over it to obtain the module.

Useful especially against smaller opponents and humans.
