The action of The Council begins in 1793. The player assumes the role of Luis de Richet - a member of a secret society who gets invited onto an island owned by mysterious lord Mortimer. Among other guests, there are such games as Napoleon Bonaparte and George Washington; each one with his or her own plans and ambitions that players discover during their adventure. Moreover, one is tasked with solving the mystery of the disappearing of main protagonist's mother.
The main protagonist's skills help you solve diversified puzzles and shape the interactions with other characters affecting the later stages of the story. Each one out of the fifteen talents can be developed in order to gain access to new possibilities. The game features also the decision system - each decision has certain consequences that affect how other characters perceive the main protagonist and both his physical and mental health. Luis de Richet can also be injured - this does not bring the adventure to an end, however, players have to change their strategy in completing their objective.
