On this page of our The Medium guide, you will find a walkthrough for the 12th stage of the game, Richard's House. Here we have described all the interactions you need to do in Richard's house. In this sequence, you mainly have to examine several items and put everything together.
Ground floor
You now play as a man – he has the same skills as the spirit version of the main character. He can create spirit shields and use a spirit blast.
Keep following the path until you reach the house. Along the way, you must use a spirit shield to protect yourself from the tentacles.
In this house, you will complete most of the tasks required to finish this part of the game. Thanks to them you will learn Richard's story.
Enter the house and approach the table to the left – you will find a knife.
Next, head to the hallway. It will move several times – keep going until you reach the door.
When you finally reach the door, open it and get into the next room.
There are several things you need to check in the office. Start with a pipe lying on the desk.
Your next step should be to open the drawer and examine the photo inside.
Time to examine another object. Go to the fireplace and examine the order.
Right next to it you will find a picture that you also need to look at. Listen to the character's commentary and then check out more items.
The next item you need to investigate is in the fireplace. You will find another item – examine it to continue the storyline.
After checking all the important items, a coffin will appear on the desk. You can absorb energy from it to move into the painting.
Once the energy is absorbed, you can use a spirit blast to reveal the painting. Once you do that, you will enter it to experience the next part of the story.
First picture
Once you enter the painting, you will find yourself in a maze. You need to check three items - the first is the portrait lying on the green bench.
The second item is a piece of bread and a bottle of milk. It lies on the green bench located to the left of the maze.
The last item is on a rock that should be easy to spot – there are petals of a red flower scattered around.
After going through the maze, run straight to the gazebo. This will complete the sequence and get you home.
First floor
After leaving the painting, head to the lobby and use the stairs. Head upstairs and enter the only open room.
If the stairs are blocked, reset the game. This part can be bugged and prevent you from continuing the game.
After entering the room, examine the chair on which the belt hangs. Only then will you be able to continue the task.
Let's start with the first item, a pipe lying on a wooden cabinet.
Take the wooden pipe, go to the chair and place the item on it. Wait for the dialogue to end and continue exploring.
Go back to the wooden bookcase and pick up the jewelry box. You'll find a clean, intact casket right next to the dusty books.
Place the item on the chair and listen to the next part of the story.
The last item lies on a small table, near the ashtray. It's an empty beer bottle.
Grab it and go to the chair. This is the final piece of the puzzle that will enable you to move on.
When the chair disappears, a tentacle will appear – you can destroy it using a spirit blast. This will open the passage further – wait several seconds for another door to open.
Find the energy source in the room and drain it. Absorb it so you can move on - otherwise, you won't be able to get past the tentacles.
Protect yourself from the tentacles attacking you in the corridor. You have to keep using a spirit shield. This way, you will protect yourself from any attack.
Second picture
You must also use a spirit blast to unlock the entrance to the next painting.
This time, you will find yourself in a darker version of the maze. Again, you will find a portrait that you must examine.
The next item you have to examine is lying on the table. It is easy to spot – there is much more light in its area than in the rest of the maze. However, it will be hard to find it by its color because it is too similar to the rocks.
After examining all of the items, head to the gazebo again. This will take you to the house – continue the story.
Attic
It's time for the last room and painting. Keep following the corridor until you reach another door.
Start by checking out the writing carved on the wooden desk. This is the first clue you need to investigate.
The next one is a letter – you will find it on the left side, on a broken wooden cabinet.
It's time for one last item. You will find it in the destroyed dresser on the right side of the room.
After checking all three items, a hangman's knot will appear – draw energy from it and move on.
Third picture
After getting the energy from the knot, use the spirit blast to get into the picture.
You will end up in the darkest version of the maze. This time, the destroyed portrait will be on a tree branch.
Remember that in this version of the world you must protect yourself from the tentacles that will constantly attack you. Use the spirit shield to get rid of the problem.
You will find the empty milk bottle and the crumbs on the rock in the right part of the maze.
The next marker is on the green bench, right next to the huge branches.
The last important element is the roses, which you will find on the final path. They will wilt as soon as you examine them.
Once again head for the gazebo. Examine the dried flowers. Don't be afraid of the paws of the monster that are constantly moving above you, it will not harm you.
Use the spirit blast to free the boy. Talk to him and watch a cut-scene. After learning the next part of the story, you will return to the main character.
