Many of the previously known mechanics return in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. In addition to horses, familiar outfits, and weapons, the game also features a glider that helps Link to move around the vast map. Continue reading if you want to find out how to get a glider and how to use it.
How to unlock a glider?
You will unlock the glider after leaving Great Sky Island. After landing in the kingdom of Hyrule, go to Lookout Landing and talk to Purah. The girl will tell you about mysterious holes in the ground and send you to Captain Hoz. Follow the main mission marker to First Gatehouse.
After talking to Captain Hoz, return to Purah at Lookout Landing. The girl will invite you to the tower in the camp. Meet Purah at the Skyview Tower, where she will give you a glider. You also activate the first Skyview Tower and discover a part of the Hyrule kingdom map.
The map of the kingdom is divided into 15 regions. In every region, you will find one Skyview Tower, which will allow you to scan the area and discover the next part of the map. Thanks to Skyview Towers, you can also soar high into the air and land on sky islands, or open your glider while falling and fly to another part of the map.
How to use a glider?
You can open the glider when you are in the air. Jump from a height and press X to deploy the glider. If you want to hide the glider, press R.
Unfortunately, you cannot fly using the glider forever. Like climbing, gliding also consumes Link's stamina. Visit Shrines, where you will obtain Lights of Blessing and exchange them to increase your stamina bar. You can also consume potions and dishes that restore stamina during a flight.
