On this page of the guide to The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, you will find a short description about the fight with Hot Head.

Hot Head is the Main Boss in the last Dungeon, Turtle Rock, that guards the Thunder Drum. Hot Head jumps out of the lava and shoots you with fireballs. Struck him with blasts from Magic Rod, so he loses his flames and starts bouncing off the walls before returning to the lava. Keep attacking him with the rod and use a shield to bounce him back. Once Hot Head takes enough damage, he will crack open to reveal a smaller head underneath. Three more blows should finish him off.
