On this page of the guide to The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, you will find a short description about the fight with Hydrosaur.

Hudrosaur can be encountered in Angler's Tunnel. The front of his body is well armored and cannot be harmed. So the easiest way to defeat him is to wait for him to charge at you, jump over him and strike his sensitive back. Upon each hit, Hydrosaur will spin and change direction. Once defeated, you will gain access to the Flippers.

Hydrosaur can also be found in Turtle Rock. He swims around a pool of lava, making the battle more challenging. In Turtle Rock, Hydrosaur guards the chamber with the Nighmare's Key.
