Collectibles in TLoU2 - what can you find?

Almost every stage in The Last of Us 2 has from one to several collectibles. Some secrets have no practical use - they can be various kinds of documents and artifacts. However, the game also has collectibles that can help you with gameplay - you can find workbenches, among other things, as well as new types of weapons and gadgets.

Main variations of secrets in The Last of Us 2

  1. Artifacts - There are 127 of them to find. You can find artifacts while playing as Ellie or Abby.
  2. Trading cards - there are 48 of them. Only Ellie can find them.
  3. Coins - there are 32 coins that can be found. Only Abby can find them.
  4. Journal entries - you can collect 20 journal entries which can be made by Ellie.
  5. Workbenches - there are 25 of them. Ellie and Abby can find workbenches.
  6. Safes - there are 14 of them in the game. They can be found by Ellie and Abby.

Search progress - how to check?

Just like in TLoU1, you can go to the main menu, browse the completed stages and check how many secrets you have found. The game will tell you how many collectibles there are in a given mission and how many of them you have found.

Missed collectibles - what to do?

You can repeat the stages in order to get to the secrets you have missed. This makes it easier to collect 100% of the secrets.

First select the chapter you are interested in from the main menu and then the stage in which you haven't found all secrets yet. It is best to repeat the stages on the lowest difficulty level - it will make it easier for you to get to the location in which you may find the collectible. You can leave the game as soon as you collect the finder you missed earlier. You don't have to complete a particular level.

Before you replay a stage, create a manual save of your current progress. After you load one of the previous missions, the progress of the main campaign will be reverted to that particular moment. Fortunately, the progress of finding the collectibles is saved independently in the background. After you have found the missing secret, you can load the manual save you created earlier and continue playing the game.
