On this page you can learn how the beginning of the career mode in The Crew 2 looks like and what decisions you have to make during it. You can also learn about reaching new fame levels in the career mode.

The first event in The Crew 2

After starting The Crew 2 for the first time the game will automatically launch the first stage of Live Xtrem Series event. At certain point the game moves you from a car to a boat automatically. Later the same will happen again. However, you will get to pilot a plane. You can't lose this event. It only serves as a tutorial that gives you a chance to learn how to control various vehicles. Complete this "prologue" to unlock Welcome to MotorNation! achievement.

After that you can start your adventure in four main categories (also called motor families):

1. Street Racing - Various events that take place on street roads.
2. Off-road - Various events that take place in wilderness and on unpaved paths.
3. Pro Racing - Various events that focus on professional racing machines.
4. Freestyle - Various events that focus on acrobatics and tricks.

You don't have to focus only on one category. Completing introduction races for each of the categories and then switching between them on a regular basis is highly recommended. Thanks to this approach you won't quickly reach more challenging races in a given category.

Getting the first few vehicles

The game lends you a vehicle to complete the first event in every of the 4 categories. After that you can get your first own vehicle for free:

1. Complete the introduction to Street Racing and choose one of the three vehicles from SR group - Audi TT RS Coupe, Ford Mustang GT Fastback or Mazda MX-5. They all have similar perf levels. Audi is the fastest while Mazda is the easiest in handling.
2. Complete the introduction to Off-Road to receive Proto Buggy from RR group. You can also participate immediately in a RR event that allows you to get Mercedes-Benz X-Class for free.
3. Complete the introduction to Pro Racing to receive Proto Offshore Mk1 boat from PB group.
4. Complete the introduction to Freestyle category to receive Zivko Edge 540 V3 Aerobatics Edition plane from AB group.

Main fame levels in the career mode

In the career mode, you level up by getting new followers. You can compare this to gaining experience - getting enough new followers rewards you with a new fame title. This also unlocks new vehicle groups in the career mode. Below you can see how this system works:

1. After reaching Popular fame level (requires 18,000 followers) the game will unlock Drift, Motocross, Touring Car and Jetsprint groups. You can now participate in the second stage of Live Xtrem Series.
2. After reaching Famous fame level (requires 55,500 followers) the game will unlock Drag Race, Rally Cross, Air Race and Monster Truck groups. You can now participate in the third stage of Live Xtrem Series.
3. After reaching Star fame level (requires 55,500 followers) the game will unlock Hypercar and Alpha GP groups. You can now participate in the fourth stage of Live Xtrem Series.
4. After reaching Icon fame level (requires 178,000 followers) the game will unlock the fifth stage of Live Xtrem Series.

Followers can be gathered by performing almost any activity in the game. However, the most "rewarded" ones are events, stages of Live Xtrem Series, and Photo Ops.

Note - Each of the newly unlocked disciplines requires you to have at least one of the related vehicles. If you don't have any from rewards then you will have to buy them yourself. More details and tips can be found in the Vehicles chapter.

Note - Reaching the Icon fame level doesn't mean that you can't progress any further. You can still reach new levels (Icon 2, Icon 3, Icon 4 etc.) and get new rewards. More information can be found in Icon levels chapter.
