This page contains walkthrough for The Song of the Maiden main quest available in The Bard's Tale IV: Barrows Deep. This is the last mission in the game. You have to solve familiar puzzles and defeat a boss.
Puzzles
Enter the Skara Brae sewers located at the end of the temple. You have to solve a puzzle involving stones - push them by following the mirror image.
Open all entrances with a lockpick - this will help you push the stones to their goal when they get near a wall.
The stones with letters "F" and "N" should be pushed like this:
Then, you have to go to the entrance behind one of the stones. Push the stone once.
Push the stones on the pedestals.
Stones with a sign that resembles "M" letter are a little bit more difficult to push towards pedestals. Remember that stones have to be on the same level as pedestals. Otherwise, you won't be able to push them all at the same time. If one of the stones is stuck, you can use it to push another stone on the same level.
This opens a passage. Use the grappling hook to go down.
You have to solve a similar puzzle. Don't worry, this one is easier. Pedestals are near walls which means that you don't have to worry that stones won't move in the same line.
This opens a passage to Barrow of the Maiden.
Enemies await you there. Despite their high group power level, you shouldn't have problems with defeating them.
The key to the gate can be found in the same place where you have encountered the enemies.
More enemies await you. Remember to leave skeletons for last.
Go down. You will find three small gears and one large gear. The three small gears activate the large one.
It should be placed like this:
Place the small gears like this (starting with the one on the left):
This opens a portal. Time for a puzzle involving lights on the ground (remember that you can't stand on the same light twice).
Move in a zigzag when two straight lines of light are next to each other. This opens a portal with a deactivation button.
Go back to the second stairs. There, you can find a portal to a puzzle with rocks and levers. Push the stone in such way that it will open a passage to the button:
Move the stones in the correct way to reach another button.
Move the stones to reach the button that unlocks the third stone.
All stones are now unlocked. Move them like this:
Get on the nearest stone and pull the lever. You will move on the stone. This also unlocks a passage to the other side.
A save totem and another button are both on the left. You now have to pull the lever again to travel on the stones.
You are back to where you were. Place the stones like this:
On the right side there is a button to open the chest with the secret box. Go to the other side and loot it. Now go back to the starting spot and walk up the stairs.
Go to this point on the map by moving the stairs behind the gear mechanism.
A next puzzle with lights awaits you there.
When you solve the puzzle, the door that hides the deactivator will open. Use it.
Go further the stairs where you will encounter some enemies, which can be bypassed with rogue's stealth invisibility. Another riddle with lights awaits you there.
After you reach the door with green totem, do the following combination:
Go down. Position the gears as follows:
On the last of the gold bridges there are some gears.
They must be set in the following way:
Fight with Yadis
After that, a two-stage battle awaits you, including the duel with final boss. First stage of this combat consists in fighting 4 undead, and in the second phase you have to defeat the boss. Warning - this boss has 630 health points.
Good armor and a shield are a key requirement in this battle.
Remember, kill the Yadis summons when they have 100 health points Otherwise, after one turn they transform into creatures with 500 health points. Also, don't let this happen:

This way the combat will end quickly. After the battle, you will meet Fiona and Rabbie. You have to choose someone who will sacrifice himself in exchange for saving the world.
Congratulations, the main storyline of the game has been completed.
