Galaxy size is determined based on number of stars. The center of each system is a star, so at the same time you determine that galaxy for your campaign will consist of specific number of systems. The smallest available campaign is 150 stars, and the biggest is 1000 stars.

Depending on how much time you want to dedicate to complete the campaign, you can choose the adequate amount. The complete discovery and takeover of 3-5 neutral systems take 2-4 hours. The bigger the galaxy, the more aspects of the game you will have the opportunity to meet.

Galaxy shape has a great impact on the course of the campaign. Depending on the distribution of individual stars, some parts of the galaxy can be more or less easily available. Four shapes are available: elliptical, annular, spiral with four or two arms.

The number of empires means the number of enemies having government structures. Small number of empires in a big galaxy means that they will be bigger in terms of number of taken systems.

The best way is to set the number of AI empires to at least 15. Then, you have a guarantee, that empires won't be too vast, so you will be able to conquer them locally, and take over systems without having to expose yourself to a war with a big empire.

Advanced empires are those, which after the start of the game will be on the same technological level as yours. They don't receive any special advantages, aside from evening the chances in the initial parts of the game. The number of designated empires will ultimately affect the difficulty level of the game.

Difficulty will determine the quality of empire managing by the AI nations. The beginner players should choose the lowest possible difficulty level - normal. More advanced players can try to play against the AI with a dose of entrepreneurship.

FTL methods are available during the gameplay. You can decide which variants can be used by your enemies.

Ironman mode Means a hard level of difficulty, the ability to gain Steam achievements, and using automatic saves only. To start a game in his mode, the player has to be connected with Steam cloud and be logged on the platform.

Mode recommended to advanced players, who want to get acquainted with the game's mechanics before playing in the multiplayer mode.
