This page of the Steelrising guide contains a walkthrough of the quest A family affair. Mirabeau is worried his father might be seeking revenge against the family. You must uncover his plans.
Starting the task
After talking to Mirabeau during the Troubled Waters quest, search his room (you'll need to go back if you haven't done it back then). You'll find a letter from the nobleman's father. After reading it, talk to him again. You'll receive the quest A family affair. You must now meet up with de la Fare.
De la Fare
You'll have an opportunity to continue this mission during the In search of Abbe Gregoire main quest - more about it on a separate page. You'll soon meet up with a few priests in the apartment (at some point in the story the priest will move to the Cordeliers Convent, Aegis's "headquarters"). Talk to him. He'll tell you he can't reveal secrets he learned during confession. You must now return to the questgiver.
You'll encounter Mirabeau again at the end of The Shadows of Luxembourg quest. He's in the Cordeliers Convent, along some other important people you must talk to. He'll instruct you to find his mother.
Mirabeau's mother - Countess of Covet
You can complete this objective while you're playing through The Prisoner in the Bastille main quest. In the fire-surrounded square (the end of the City section of the previously mentioned quest) head right and destroy the gate. You'll encounter a Tiger grenadier and a Lion Gunner (more about them on the Felines page).
Go along the path. You'll eventually come across a building some voices are coming from. You can talk to the people there about the person you're looking for. Turn right and climb up the terraces. On top of them you'll find the mother's corpse. If you're currently playing through The Prisoner in the Bastille quest, you must finish it before you can return to the questgiver. Otherwise, you can immediately head back to the Cordeliers Convent and report back. We also recommend opening the chest in the square's corner - you'll find a Carriage Token. The next stage of the mission is to find the leather wallet.
Leather wallet
Chances are that you already have the wallet for Mirabeau. It is located on the first floor of the Comte de Cagliostro’s Workshop. on a table near the stairs.
If you don't have it, you can get this item during the side quest Nicolas Flamel's final journey. Inside the crypt of this legendary alchemist, you'll find a key to Comte de Cagliostro's Workshop. You must go there. The path to the workshop is described in this part of the walkthrough. Don't forget to collect the Echo located in front of the stairs near the building. You can also complete one of the objectives of the Origins quest.
With the leather wallet, return to the Cordeliers Convent and talk to Mirabeau.
Lettre de cachet
Your final objective is to find the Lettre de cachet. Head to La Cite. Go to the Vestal behind the gate you've repaired during the In search of Abbe Gregoire quest.
From the respawn point, go upstairs. When you reach the alley go to the "terrace" near the entrance to the building in front of you, to the left.
Stand on the wooden planks and use The Selenite Momentum to jump across, to the opposite balcony. Be careful, there's a Musketeer (more about it on the Guards page) and a Watchmaker (more about it on the Arachnids page) below you.
Cross the room and jump down to the courtyard. It's guarded by a Falcon (more about it on the Automats page). Leave the square through a tunnel. You'll run into a Trumpeter (more about it on the Musicians page). Climb the stairs. You'll encounter a Flame Acolyte (more about it on the Acolytes page).
Climb the stairs. There's another Trumpeter here. Climb up the crates. The letter you're looking for is on the desk inside the room.
From here, you can easily jump over the fence. You'll land opposite a Vestal. You can now return to the Cordeliers Convent and report back to the questgiver.
