3-ya Gvard. Mechanizi. Korpus | Allied divisions in Steel Division 2 Steel Division 2 guide, tips

Last update: 20 August 2019

3 Mechanized Guard Korpus is quite a strong division, which has many types of infantry units and a large number of additional equipment and tanks. In its ranks there are also partisan troops. The composition of these troops is quite universal, because in each category you can add 6 to 8 cards, so you can decide what you want more and what is not that important to you at the moment. Armored vehicles are mostly foreign equipment - American and British. That's why the whole division is a mixture of two different countries' weapons. After all, this division is a force that everyone may be afraid of.

Infantry is one of the strongest assets of this division. You can add many different types of infantry units to the battle group. Most of these units have anti-tank weapons, but they will be mainly grenades or anti-tank rifles. Most often you will use Gvardyia troops, which are universal and can cope with any situation due to the variety of weapons. The Tankodesantniki squad is a specialist in very short distance combat. The aforementioned partisans will fight quite well and are equipped with Molotov cocktails. This unique weapon is an excellent measure against infantry and can lower the morale of enemy armored units.

The Guard Korpus tanks are only available in two models: Valentine IX and Emcha a.k.a. Shermans. British Valetnine has stronger guns than American tanks, but a little weaker armor. You have a large number of tanks at your disposal and you can flood the enemy with hordes of tanks from the very first minutes. For this reason it is worth to reinforce the attack with reconnaissance in the form of tanks and anti-tank guns. ZIS cannons and SU-85 are very good units, which will support the main attack. Especially the SU-85 is extremely useful. It can track and destroy even distant targets.

EMCHA is actually a Sherman in Russian. In this division, all battle groups have a large number of these tanks to deploy. These are quite good machines, but they will often have problems with Panzer IV or other medium tanks. - 3-ya Gvard. Mechanizi. As far as reconnaissance is concerned, you may add Valentine III and T-34/76 to the battlegroup. These are quite good units which can keep up with the main group. Thanks to their excellent optics, they are able to detect the enemy and fire before the opponent knows what has actually happened. The division has decent artillery, thanks to good mortars and howitzers. It is also possible to add the SU-76M artillery guns to the groups. It's a middle-class artillery, but it's very mobile. It is worth to move these units after each volley so that they do not get into counter-fire. The strongest representative is BM-8-24. It's the "younger brother" of the BM-31 katyusha, but it's mounted on the T-70 tank.

As in the case of the other divisions, the 3 Korpus has a weak anti-aircraft defense. It's the same arrangement as in the 2nd Armored Division. The number of units is very small and only the American cannon M17 is able to get rid of any plane and even destroy a few of them. The aviation in this group, on the other hand, is not the worst, but focuses primarily on small bombers. There is no dedicated airplane that can destroy enemy vehicles. There aren't many fighters, which would provide an advantage in the air on the battlefield. The number and choice of support units is also very limited, so you have to make wise decisions when planning battle groups.
