Exploring space is as dangerous as exploring the planets. The reason for that is the fact that the Outlaws and the Legion leave various traps around the entire Atlas system. Some of them resemble a regular location while other traps appear suddenly, giving you only a small amount of time to react. In this chapter, you can learn how to avoid them.
A hyperspace trap, used by the two factions, is the most common. They appear frequently near groups of asteroids. These traps are a shield that immobilizes your ship.
You get attacked immediately by enemy forces. The only way to avoid this trap is to fly through a hole in the shield. However, with every dodge, the holes you need to go through become smaller. The only solution here is to turn the hyperdrive off and maneuver your ship slowly. Otherwise, avoiding this trap may be impossible.
Ambushes are another type of traps. They are various shipwrecks left in space. Your ship gets attacked as soon as you get closer to it. The only way to avoid these traps is to stay away from any shipwrecks. These traps are used only by the Outlaws. However, shipwrecks can be useful to you - usually, you can find a lot of various chests near them.
