Mission 3 - Amon's Fall | Achievements - Into the Void SC II: Legacy of the Void Guide

Last update: 11 May 2016

Amon's Fall. Requires you to complete the mission on any difficulty level.

Extinction Event. Kill at least 375 units with Kerrigan's help. A simple task. All you need to do is let Kerrigan participate in the battles with your main forces all the time. You can check the number of units she killed by clicking on her character. If you decide that the number is too small, you can send her on a lone raid against enemy positions. You must only watch out for turrets. A good way is to use her last ability which has the reach of the whole map. In this way your account will always increase by few kills.

Dodge This. Don't lose any unit when Amon is destroying an area on normal difficulty level. Very simple, all you need to do is check on the mission map which areas Amon will destroy and avoid them.

Triple Tap. Destroy 3 void crystals on high difficulty level. More than 60 seconds cannot pass between each destruction. The trouble with this objective is that sometimes there will be only one void crystal on the map, other times there will be even five of them at once. So, it might happen that for a long time you will have only one or two targets to destroy and you will not be able to complete the challenge. However, you will quickly learn that except for that random factor, the objective is very simple to achieve.

You should complete this task methodically. Start with expanding your base and placing two additional hatcheries at the nearby resource sources. Train mutalisks and upgrade them. Destroy all void chasms and all turrets which can be found near the base. Wait. You must hold on until three void crystals appear on the map close to each other. Two of them can be on one side of the map and the last one on the other side, for example near Amon. It won't matter that much, this is why you have trained mutalisks. Be ready for the fact that they might have to fly some time above an abyss which will hurt them. Don't worry about that, they will be healed once they land.

When a group of crystals that suits you appear on the map, check if you can take care of them. The distance and the fact whether they will be still in the air is important. If the circumstances favor you, decide about the order of attack, save the game and hit the crystals with everything you've got. If you can, use Kerrigan's help, mostly her healing ability. If not, simply focus on attacking the crystal, trying to avoid the attacks of nearby turrets. Fully upgraded mutalisks are able to survive a lot and they have high attack power, especially if you have fully used the supply limit.

While attacking the crystals, keep attention to where they are and when will they disappear. If you have plenty of time and/or the distance is small, first destroy Amon's turrets and then the crystals. If the void crystals are far from each other or one of them will soon hide under the island, ignore the turrets and focus on destroying the crystals. Thanks to the weapon and armor upgrades, the mutalisks should deal with the objective, even despite that many of them will die. If you wasn't fast enough, simply load the game from before the attack and try other tactic. If you have gotten a favorable set of void crystals, sooner or later you will manage to destroy it fast enough.
