You start one minute before the terrazine fog rises - Mission 12 - Steps of the Rite - Campaign - Legacy of the Void - StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void - Game Guide and Walkthrough

You start one minute before the terrazine fog rises. Use the starting resources to train few additional zealots, use the rest to create workers. Gather your whole army at the northern base entrance and wait for the fog to appear. Enemies walking from it will belong to every race and unit type, but they will be weaker and less resistant, so fighting them should be easier. Defend yourself for the next two and a half minute. At the same time, create new workers and develop the base.

Gather the army and go north once the fog drops - Mission 12 - Steps of the Rite - Campaign - Legacy of the Void - StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Gather the army and go north once the fog drops. You have four and half minute to reach protoss base and kill the first Ma'lash's guardian [1]. Both the base and the guardian will be easy to defeat, mostly thanks to the void rays available since this mission. Once you get rid of the enemy, finish destroying his base and retreat back. Don't forget about gathering all resource containers which you will find on your way. There will be plenty of them on the whole map. During the breaks between the fog, you will be rarely attacked and the game will inform you about it beforehand, so you can base your defenses only on units.

This mission can be completed in few ways, but one of the most effective ones is focusing on void rays. You will need some infantry units and vehicles (zealots, stalkers, immortals etc.) for protecting the base and as many upgraded void rays as possible. When the fog is raised, you must split your army between both entrances and you use them to repel everything that attacks you. Once the fog drops, you gather all void rays and you move to destroy the targets. In this way you won't be able to gather the resource containers scattered through the map, but with large number of ships you will destroy everything on your path - especially after you will upgrade the weapon and armor of your units. This tactic requires at least 10 void rays which aren't cheap, but it will allow you to kill even two guardians during single trip. If you decided to use this tactic, then keep producing new ships. 20 void rays is a force that can easily destroy all enemy bases in this mission.

Before the fog raises for the second time, you will receive information about two motherships [M1][M2] - Mission 12 - Steps of the Rite - Campaign - Legacy of the Void - StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Before the fog raises for the second time, you will receive information about two motherships [M1][M2]. It is wise to destroy them for additional solarite. Both ships have light defense consisting of lesser ships, so it is wise to attack them with a varied army of land and aerial units. The motherships aren't hard opponents despite their abilities. The only trouble can be caused by high resistance and strong shields that require longer and more intensive fire.

The order in which you kill the guardians [1-4] doesn't matter too much. However, the more far away from the base, the defense will be stronger - single hybrids will join the turrets and gradually more advanced protoss units. You don't need to destroy other buildings in enemy bases. Killing the guardian and his support will be enough, you can retreat immediately after that. After killing the fourth one the mission will be immediately considered as completed. You don't need to use the second location [5] for building the base since the resource production in the first one should be sufficient for completing the mission.
