The spaceship of the human race - The spaceship - Guide of the interstellar traveler - Starbound - Beta - Game Guide and Walkthrough
The spaceship of the human race

For travelling around the galaxy, you are going to need a means of transport - the spaceship. In Starbound they are both a form of travelling and also a safe headquarters and the spawning point after an unfortunate demise. Each one of the available races has its own kind of ship but, the difference is only visual.

The interior of the ship is subject to some rules that you need to know:

  • Ships cannot be destroyed nor disassembled. Only the walls of the background, doors and lighting fittings can be removed and replaced.
  • You cannot remove, nor carry over the objects that are onboard the ship by default.
  • The interior of the ship can be adorned with any elements and you can put there all sorts of blocks and objects. Still, you cannot put them on the external side of the ship.
  • The temperature inside the spaceship is always positive. This is why you can take refuge inside and avoid freezing by teleporting back into the ship.

Each spaceship has 5 basic devices onboard. They perform various roles and cannot be dismounted from the ship. These are the descriptions of the individual elements:

  • Fuel Hatch - Allows you to refuel the ship. To do that, you need to put an appropriate ore in the device and it will be processed into fuel units. For each flight on the ship, you need appropriate amount of fuel. Flying to the neighboring planet requires 1 fuel unit, flying to another planetary system, within the same stellar system, requires- 50 fuel units, and traveling to another stellar system, or another sector - 200 fuel units.
  • Shiplocker -this is the basic storage for all the items of the player. It has 64 slots.
  • Tech Station - it has two useful functions: 3D Printing and the assignment of Techs. The first one allows you to scan objects and to print them afterwards, using Pixels. The other function requires you to find appropriate Tech chips. After you have obtained a chip, you simply need to use it and it will appear on the Tech list, where you will be able to assign abilities to your character.
  • Teleportation Pad - this device allows you to teleport onto the surface of the planet and back to the ship. By using it, you can also teleport to your home planet, saved in the system, as well as to the ships of the other players in the team.
  • Navigation Console - Thanks to this, you can control the ship. This allows you to select your destination and mark a given planet as your home. Also, it has a map of the galaxy, which displays the positions of the stellar systems and provides you with the basic information on the planets in those systems.
