As sword and ham. What more does one need?

Each living creature requires food and the same goes for the characters controlled by the player. To fill up the blinking hunger meter, you eat just any type of food. You need to make sure that you use the correct type of food. Some of the foods can be poisonous for dome races.

The basic type of food is the Raw Alien Meat, which you can obtain by killing monsters that dwell planets. However, you cannot eat the meat raw and you first need to process it. To cook single foods, you use a Cooking Station, like e.g. Campfire or Nanostove. After you cook Raw Alien Meat, you receive Cooked Alien Meat, which you can nourish on and save yourself from starvation.

There also are more complicated dishes. Apart from satisfying hunger, they can also provide you with various useful effects, like e.g. Health Regeneration or Sugar Rush. To prepare such dishes, you need two things: the recipe and a Crafting Station (Wooden Cooking Table, Kitchen Counter etc.). Each race receives its starting recipes. The remaining ones can be found while exploring the planets. If you have an appropriate recipe, you only need to gather the ingredients and craft the dish at the Crafting Station, just like you would craft any other item. The more complicated dishes usually replenish more hunger meter than the regular cooked meat.
