Dual swords - Melee weapons - Craftsmans Guide - Starbound - Beta - Game Guide and Walkthrough
Dual swords

The basic type of weapon, which is available since the beginning of the game, is the melee weapons, e.g. two-handed swords, axes or spears. They are easy to use because they do not require too much accuracy and do not consume energy during battle.

In the game, there are the following categories of melee weapons:

  • Axes - these are two-handed weapons that are something between hammers and two-handed swords. Their range of attack is long, they deal more damage, but they are slower than most weapons.
  • Broadswords - two-handed swords. They are faster than axes but slower than most of the one-handed weapons. This is one of the best weapons for beginners, because they deal a lot of damage within wide range.
  • Daggers - one of the fastest types of melee weapons. Its main downside is its range, which is based on stabs, rather than in the form of overhead and horizontal swings.
  • Hammers - the slowest melee weapon. Deal massive damage but are slow and require the user to feel the weapon.
  • Short Swords- a weapon similar to the dagger, but with a longer blade and more damage. It only takes one hand to wield it, which is why you can fight using two swords at the same time, or put another item in the other hand, e.g. the flashlight or the shield.
  • Spears - these are weapons of long range, but they can only be used for stabs. They require a lot of precision, which they make up for with speed and the strength of attack.
  • Special weapons - various weapons used by the human opponents or NPCs. They can be dropped by the killed enemies. An example of such weapon are the Shivs, which are dropped by USMC Inmates and resemble regular daggers.
