Logs in Sons of the Forest are the basic material for constructing many shelter elements. This page of the game guide will explain to you how to obtain logs and process them to make them suitable for construction materials.

On the following page you will find tips on obtaining and cutting Logs. You will use them to craft shelter elements and furniture.
Harvesting logs
To get a log, you must first cut down a tree. Use the Tactical Ax available in the game from the beginning. Hit the tree with the left mouse button until the tree is knocked down.
Sometimes you need to change where the character stands because constantly hitting one spot may not bring the expected results.
Cutting logs
Some blueprints require logs of different sizes, so it is very important to cut them correctly. The place of the cut is marked with a red dashed line (like in the picture above). Clicking the left mouse button will cause the character to "aim". Pressing the LMB again will result in cutting a piece of the log.
Logs can be cut both alongside and across. It depends on what form you need for construction. Regardless of the final form, the cutting mechanic is the same.
